"You can't get rid of your DNA."

Stephen's and my kiss felt like a bed of roses, soft and tender but possibly detrimental in the future. I'd missed this. We've hooked up in the woods but that was more like apology sex filled with pure passion. Right now, our kiss feels like home.

It's a feeling of having a future together but at the same time a feeling of risking it all, knowing how hard life could be. Well, could. Stephen loosens his grip around my neck slowly. He still rests his forehead on mine.

"We can't do this. I can't. I'm not as eager to take advantage of you." "You're not taking advantage of me." My voice is quiet, it's just a touch of confusion. "You're feeling sad mixed with anger and disappointment. You're not acting straight."

"You just confessed your feelings to me, Stephen-" "Yeah, that's what I did, Scar. But I don't expect you to react to my words right now. Take your time to cope with everything's that happened, okay? I'm right here. I'll be with you during the whole process. But it'll take time."

Stephen makes a promise that I'm not sure if he can keep. He's made a promise of staying with me once already, before he left for work in Eraklyon so he could stay away from me. Funny how he ended up in the country I'm expected to rule one day. "Okay." I say no more than whisper my agreement. He's right. I loosen my grip around him and give him a smile before walking away.

Where does a confused girl with daddy issues and love troubles go when she needs answers? Right, her mother. Thank god I found my mom to even have one. And she's got great, but problematic children. Win, win. When I enter the apartment, I remember what else she's got.

A caring but over-protective and strict man. No, actually he's still her husband's best friend. Still. I wonder how long it'll take them to change that. "Mom, I need your advice on-" I interrupt myself when I see her crying in front of Saul. I was convinced that I would never see the look on his face.

Saul never shows his frustration or deep desperation. "What-" "Scar." Mom turns around glancing at me with wide-opened eyes. Then I realize what they're doing. Saul's got these damn bonds in his hands. Why would he put these damn pieces of metal on her?

Mom's a human, she doesn't have any magic to block. "What are you about to do here?", I snap at him angrily and rush over to them raising my hand. When I'm about to throw them away, Saul stops me. "We have to, Scar." I've never heard this strict hint of seriousness in his voice.

Although he's always pretty serious. "No!", I yell at him and use my air magic to throw the bonds to the bottom. When Saul reaches down to grab them I push his chest back. I have no time to evaluate if I really want to attack him, I just know that I can't let mom wear them. I don't see a reason why she would let him do it to her.

"Scar, stop!", mom yells behind me and pushes me back at my shoulder as she's standing behind me. Wait, did she just stop me? But she's about to feel pure pain when wearing them? "Scar", Saul whispers giving me one of those looks I'd never expect him to, "Olivia.. your mom.. she's a blood witch."

"No, no she's not. She doesn't have any magic. She-" "I do, Scar", mom interrupts my uproar, "Your dad has left me a letter. He knew very early that I have some powers, he just couldn't define them. Then Rosalind linked my magic to her life so I couldn't find out about it. She's manipulated Andreas as well."

"That's why you..", I whisper realizing what's happened here, "I'm sorry for-" "It's alright, Scar", Saul replies softly, "I'm sorry but we have to do this. We don't know how strong Olivia's powers are and if Queen Luna finds out, she'd hunt her. This way, we can argue that we took action for everyone's sake."

"There's something else you need to know, Scar", mom speaks up with a shaking voice and reaches for an opened letter on her desk, "Your dad left the three of us a letter. Saul and I have read yours and Sky's to know about your magic. Sky didn't inherited any magic but.. you're a blood witch, too, Scar. I.." I gulp hard nodding.

"No, it's fine. Saul, do what you have to do", I sigh ordering him for once. He looks at me guiltily but nods and takes the bonds in his hands. Mom grimaces in pain feeling it for the first time. Hell, those must be even stronger than those for fairies. I prepare myself mentally when Saul turns to me.

"Liv, are you here? I need another advice on your dau-" Stephen appears in the door and immediately understands what happens. He rushes over to Saul lunging to fight him. "You're not hurting her!" I would chuckle about Stephen coming to ask mom for advice just like me if we weren't in this situation.

I use my magic to hold him back before he can make the same mistake as I did. He shouldn't attack his brother. "Stephen, it's okay", I say quietly but seriously so he stops without knowing what's actually going on, "It's okay." "We're blood witches, Stephen", mom announces to him sadly, her voice trembling.

Stephen turns to me immediately as if he needed me to confirm it. I don't know what to do. I haven't read dad's letter but I trust mom and Saul. Plus, it makes sense with Sebastian knowing something about me that no one has told me yet. I simply nod. "How-"

"I'll explain everything to you when we're done here. You have to help me make a plan for our defense", Saul says dryly pretending to not care about what's just happened as much. He looks back at me waiting for me to nod.

"I don't have a chance, do I?", I ask sarcastically knowing that it's not Saul's fault but he didn't seem to be affected by what he's doing right now. Is this him just following his own orders or has he always been this careless? No, I shouldn't think this way. He's always cared about us. He just wishes he wasn't in such a situation.

My thoughts are interrupted by a sudden, cold pain by the iron bonds. I hiss in pain. Those are a lot worse than the ones for fairies. "Scar", mom says quietly but I shake my head. "I'll go and read dad's letter now", I sigh wishing this would have never happened. What if I had agreed to Sebastian's offer?
