"For real?" Ella exclaimed.

"For real!" I started screaming and jumping around. "Ah, wait, I said I would send him a message". I sat on the bed right away.

"What are you going to write?" She sat next to me.

I didn't answer her; I started looking for a cute emoji to send instead. I finally chose a little bear popping behind a wall and wrote, "Hi, it's me".

"Hi". He wrote back.

"Ah! He wrote back; he wrote back!" I started to scream again.

"What did he say over the phone?" Exclaimed Ella.

"He wants to meet". I was jumping on the bed like a teenager.

"Did he sound angry or anything?"

"Not at all. More shy than angry, I'd say. I can believe it!"

"Did he say when? Can I go too?" I stopped jumping around and turned to her.

"On Thursday. I don't know, I can ask him if you can go".

"What do you mean by asking him? Please take me too". She said with pleading eyes.

"It's rude if I bring you with me without asking him".

"Well, yeah, he invited you".

"Don't be upset, I'll ask". I unlocked the phone pondering if I should write right away or wait a while. It seemed that he was busy.

"Thank you. I'll go get dressed. Did Matt call?"

"No, he didn't". She nodded and went back to the bathroom.

I noticed her a bit upset, and I couldn't help but get a bit upset too. It's not like I didn't want to go with her, it was a matter of politeness. She always did that when things didn't go her way right away. I doubted Chan would say no anyway; I told myself I would wait until he sent the location to ask if she could go too.

Once Ella and I were ready for bed, I kept talking to her hoping I could soothe her mood. Usually, I would wait until the next day to talk to her if she was upset about something because she always forgot everything after a good night of sleep. But it was going to be the 14 of June in a few hours, which meant, her birthday.

After nagging about Matt for a while, she quickly changed the topic to what we were going the next day and highlighted we had to make some time for buying gifts for my grandparents.

Just as the clock struck midnight, I took the piece of cake I had hidden under the bed and congratulated Ella. Somehow I managed to buy some cake and her present without her knowing. It was pretty difficult since we were almost the whole day together.

"Ella, I'm going to sleep". I yawned.

"I'm going to stay up a little bit more. You can turn off the lights if you want". She was watching videos on her phone.

"Thanks". I switched the lights off. "Good night".

"Good night". She replied.

I knew she was still waiting for Matt. And seeing how low in spirits she was the next morning, I knew she didn't get the call she was waiting for. It made me a bit sad, she was even sadder for sure. So I tried my best to cheer her up and dragged her for breakfast to a coffee shop in Gyedong-gil, she had always wanted to visit Onion Anguk after she saw it on Instagram so I had to take her for her birthday. After that, we bought some snacks and headed to Iljasan Mountain Herb Astronomy Park to spend the day. Something Ella loved was spending the day outdoors; the greener, the better.

When we were on our way back to the Airbnb, Matt finally called Ella. They were almost an hour on the phone and I could notice she felt a lot happier after that call. We were going to Itaewon to grab some dinner and celebrate somewhere. We didn't have much planned just food and a party.
