"Whoa, I wanted to come so much", said Chan as if he had just realized about it. We were walking around the beach.
"It kinda comforts you, isn't it?"
"Oh! You get that feeling too". He turned to me surprised. "It's just that... it's like... whatever is bothering me, or if I have too many things going on in my head, is shut down. Like it calms me down and I can forget about everything for a moment".
"Yeah, it's like a comforting hug".
"That's a good way to put it. Yeah, it's like that. I didn't think about it".
"Isn't it because we grew up near it? It has meaning to us". He slowly nodded.
"You might be right".
"Do you have something bothering you?"
"Ah, not really, not at the moment. I just missed it".
"Ah, that's good to hear. Uhm, non-related topic, what do you want to do tomorrow?".
"Right, tomorrow..."
Chan's plans were rather simple, to be honest. He wanted to visit Gamcheon Culture Village in the morning and then just spend the afternoon at the beach before heading back to Seoul. I wasn't expecting him to come up with something greedy since I assumed what he wanted the most was to spend as much time as possible at the beach; it sounded like something he would enjoy. And I was happy just by the fact he made it to Busan anyway.
W took our time going and playing around. I have to admit I'm pretty childish when it comes to fooling around and spending time with friends and family, but so it was Chan. Therefore, I would play along with his games and teasing, and he would play along with mine, which I highly appreciated. And we would mock each other an awful lot, I was still cautious because I didn't know his limits though.
"Hm?" He looked at me confused when I softly pushed him to the side with my hip.
"Look". I whispered and lifted my chin pointing at the water. He turned to the other side, unsure what I was pointing to.
"What is-". I pushed him again and he stepped into the water. He sighed pulling his head back while I just giggled.
The whole time we were walking along the seashore, he stayed at the waterside and followed the water line so he would be an inch from being touched by the water. I guessed it was his little game because he was actually paying attention to not step into the wet sand, like when you avoid stepping on lines in the street, and wanted to pick on him. He was wearing sandals too so I couldn't help it.
"What? Are you going to turn into a zombie if you touch the water? I joked. He laughed and I joined him but jumped back the moment he tried to grab me. By the sudden change in his expression, I knew what he had between his hands.
"Payback!"
"No, I'm wearing shoes!" I took a few steps back but he tried to catch me again. I started running away.
"Shit, you run fast!" I heard him behind me. I took a quick peek back just to see him running behind.
"Fuck", I coursed in my mind. I knew I was faster than him, but my legs were tired after so much walking and I felt them giving in.
"Gotcha!" He caught me the moment I tried to catch my breath.
"No, wait!" He grabbed me from behind and lifted me; ready to throw me into the water. I pulled my knees up to not touch the water. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Chan motioned to throw me in but spun around and put me back on land.
