Chapter 15

"You finally call me!" I exclaimed the moment I accepted Ella's call. "I was starting to worry about you".

"Why would you worry?" She complained.

"Because you always reply to my messages at least within a day".

"I've been busy", she sighed.

"Are you ok?"

"I broke up with Matt".

"Really?" I asked, but I wasn't impressed at all. "Why? What happened?"

"Nothing happened, that's why".

"I'm sorry I can't be there for you".

"It's fine. It's not like you can do something anyway".

"What do you mean? Girl's nights have always lifted your mood".

"Ah, you're right". She sounded really down.

"When did you both break up?"

"Two weeks ago, it was a huge mess. He proposed to me, Mia, he proposed!" She exclaimed getting agitated.

I was speechless, not because they broke up because of that but because he actually had the guts, or stupidity, to ask her. It was obvious, at least for me, that she was going to say no; they just got back together two months before we traveled to Korea.

"Well... now that things have come to this, you might stop getting back with him giving him hope, don't you think?"

"Yeah, I should but it's so difficult. I'm really really used to being with him, I miss him a lot".

"But you will end up getting him hurt; you'll end up hurt too, wouldn't be better to stop it before a good memory turns into a painful one?"

"You don't understand", she said a bit upset.

"What do you mean? I know exactly what I'm talking about".

"The whole thing with Ricky was different".

"I don't think it was that different", I disagreed. "Anyway, what do you plan on doing?"

"I won't get back with him for time being, and I think it'd be a good idea to be alone for a while".

"Yeah, it sounds good".

"What about you? Have you seen Chan?" Right, we didn't talk much after we parted ways at the airport.

"Uhm... yeah".

"So you saw each other that day after all".

"Yeah..."

"There's something else going on, right?"

"You can't tell this to anyone, Ella".

"I won't, what's it?"

"Swear it to me, you won't say anything".

"I won't! What's going on?", she exclaimed. "It's not like if you two would date".

"Uhm... actually, we are".

"What?" She said taken aback.

"We're dating". The call ended. "What the heck?" I saw my phone, but I was connected to Wi-Fi. I called Ella again but she didn't pick up the phone, I call her again.

"Don't talk to me!" She exclaimed.

"What's wrong?" I asked confused.

"Why do things always go so smoothly for you?" She complained.

"Ella..."

"I know you don't think that way but it's frustrating. How did this even happen?".

"We went out a few times and decided to give it a try".
