"Hi! I'm awfully late. I'm not home yet, just in case". I texted Chan around 4 p.m.

That morning I went to the saloon after who knows how long, probably a year. Grabbed something quick for lunch somewhere and went to the skin center. This beauty day was my self-birthday-present. But I never thought I would take so long at the skin center. I still had to pick up the cake too!

After running from one place to the other, I was finally waiting for my bus to head home when I got Chan's reply.

"Hi! I just finished here. Are you still out?"

"Yeah, but I'm on my way". If he was at the company, he was going to be there before me.

"Ok, I'm going then".

"If you get there before me, the password is the same as the previous one. It's kinda cold today".

The whole no-keys system was very convenient after all. It was still a bit weird though, I couldn't help but feel I was forgetting something every time I left the apartment, how long does it take to get used to not carrying keys with you?

"I can wait, don't worry".

He definitely felt awkward going in on his own. It happened once before, and I get it but it's not like I didn't know he was in there. And even though five months of knowing each other was not much, I did trust him a lot. Plus, what if he waited outside and someone recognized him? It would be even worse depending on the person who got that information.

I couldn't stay still on the bus, and if it was not because of the cake, I would have run the moment I got off.

Chan wasn't outside the building or the apartment when I got there though. I thought that he might have taken a detour knowing I was late.

"Happy birthday!" I saw him standing with his arms open waiting for a hug at the entrance the moment I opened the door.

"I thought you were not here yet!" I swiftly took my shoes off and jumped in.

"You told me to wait in".

"Last time you didn't want to". I leaned back to see his face and peck his lips. "I brought cake".

"I brought pizza". He pecked me back.

"Really?" I exclaimed letting off of him and checking the kitchen.

"You said you wanted to have it for dinner".

"Thank you". I smiled at him really happy. Something that Chan would never disappoint was being detailed. He always remembered whatever I said.

We set the cutlery on the table and started to dig in right away. Chan just had a sandwich for lunch so he was obviously hungry, and it was almost 7 too. I'd have been very moody if I were him. I barely made it just because I always had some chocolate in my purse.

The new apartment wasn't as nice as the previous one but it was bigger. There was room for a table for two in the kitchen area, the living room was a bit bigger too, and I got a queen-sized bed. Why was it not as nice as the other one? The way it was decorated was very minimalistic and cold and it had only one tiny window. I needed light!

I didn't love the place but it was what I could get within the budget and the time I had.

First, the budget wasn't a serious thing but I tried to not give in to myself; I earned good money and could have rented something bigger and probably in an even better neighborhood but what for? And I had been saving half of my salary since I started working with Richard, again, he paid me really well. It was just because I saved that I could travel to Korea, attend the event, the concert, the trips here and there, and all of that, were all possible because of that. I had to spend money from my saving account at the beginning but not anymore.
