Mizuki's POV
It does hurt. I was just ignoring it. Last year, I carried the heaviest pain in my heart during a supposed happy day. And Kei was the cause.
This year, I thought I can be with him and celebrate my birthday happily for a change. I guess not.
But I do appreciate my bestest friends coming here to celebrate with me. Them being here already mean the world to me. I'm happier than ever because I feel so loved and important.
Shortly after Shoyo and Tobio arrived, Haruka, Yachi, and Yamaguchi also came. And... they were also sweating. I guess they were excited to learn that there will be a lot of people coming here today.
"Happy Birthday!!", they all said, rushing to give me hug.
"Thanks, guys! Did Shoyo text you?", I asked, chuckling.
"He sure did! That's why we ran here!", Yachi answered.
"Which I objected to, now I'm sweaty and my foundation was a heck of a lot of money!", Haruka complained. "But it's okay, anything for Mizuki!"
"You should come in and cool off for a moment.", I giggled.
I opened the door to let them in and they greeted the others.
"I don't think we'll fit inside the house, maybe we can have the celebration outside. The backyard is much larger and more fitting for a celebration.", Papa said.
"Oh! We haven't used our backyard in a while! I should clean it first!", I said, rushing. But I halted when Papa spoke again.
"No need, Miki. I already did.", he said, winking at the others.
I raised my eyebrow and looked at the others, then back at Papa.
"You planned something?", I asked.
Papa chuckled and pat my head.
"Why don't you and Kenma bring your gifts to your room while we organize your party?", he asked.
"A party??", I asked in shock.
"I missed all the opportunities in the last 5 years to throw a celebration for you. Now I want to make the effort. I apologize, and would like to return all the effort and patience you gave me.", Papa said, caressing my cheek.
My eyes watered immediately at his words and I hugged him.
"I love you, Papa.", I said, sniffling as tears roll down my face.
"I love you too, Miki.", he replied, hugging me back.
I can hear the others saw "Aww" and I can feel their smiles from behind me.
"Now, run along. We have to organize your party.", Papa said, letting me go.
I wanted to offer help but I knew he was gonna decline, they all will, so I just agreed.
I guess Kenma was assigned to keep me busy, that's why he's coming with me upstairs.
Papa took the others outside while me and Kenma were arranging my gifts so we can put it in my room.
This day got even better, and I can't believe after all these years I get to truly celebrate my birthday. I feel so special knowing that these people loves me wholeheartedly. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be alive right now.
