Mizuki's POV
It's been a day of humiliating losses and running up the hill behind the school. After the games, everyone stayed for a while to practice. Everyone except...
Tsukishima.
"Hey, everyone's staying late to practice some more. Are you sure you don't wanna come?", I heard Yamaguchi say while I was picking up some water bottles.
"We practice way too much as it is. It's not healthy to stay up and exhaust ourselves. You can practice by yourselves.", Tsukki answered. I grunted silently in frustration.
"Oh, o-okay.", Yamaguchi replied and joined Asahi in serving.
I finished picking up the bottles and putting it on the racks. I went outside to get some fresh air and to think on what I'll say to him.
I just wanna know what's running through his mind. What brings him to what he is today. What burden does he carry. And why is he so dispassionate.
I don't know why it bothers me. But it does. It really does. Everyone is trying their best around here. Even Ennoshita, Kinoshita and Narita. I don't know what makes him limit himself from achieving actual greatness rather than being a dispassionate smart ass. Around all the guys in Karasuno, he's the one bound for greatness. His wit can take him higher, but he doesn't even try. I don't know if he's confused or his mind is set. Is it something about his past? Is it something someone said? Is it normal for him? Is this his epiphany? Is this his belief? I have too much question on my mind. He's too hard to analyze when he doesn't speak much.
Well guess what, I'll make him speak.
I let out a long sigh and stood up to go back to our rooms. On the way there, I saw a glimpse of Tsukki inside a court with a bunch of other guys. There's Nekoma's captain, Fukurodani's ace, and their setter. Kuroo, Bokuto and Akaashi. I looked from the window and watched them. Akaashi set for Bokuto who spiked. Tsukki jumped to block, guarding a straight. Kuroo jumped beside him and with Bokuto spiking, Kuroo moved his hands to the side at the last second and blocked Bokuto's thunderous spike.
"Aww.", Bokuto whined.
Kuroo laughed at him while Tsukki and Akaashi stayed silent.
So he's practicing with the big guys huh? Bet you a thousand that someone coaxed him to be their blocker.
Also... there's a tall silver haired guy lying on the floor, as if he was giving up. That's Lev Haiba if I'm correct. Hinata introduced him to me earlier. He's tall, yet lacks skills according to my observances and assurance from Kenma himself.
I looked at the group of four and listened to their conversation.
"You know, if you keep slacking off. That carrot head is gonna steal the spotlight. You play the same position right?", Kuroo said.
"Well there's a clear difference in potential between me and Hinata. There's no way I'll reach his level.", Tsukishima flashed a non-genuine smile while scratching the back of his head. Then some players from Nekoma started going inside and complaining about Lev. "Well, looks like my job here is done.", he smiled then turned around to leave. Luckily he didn't see me.
I turned around and leaned back on the wall.
"Looks like you pissed him off.", I heard Akaashi say.
"Yeah, well, I didn't know he'd be all like that." Kuroo said.
"Like what?", Bokuto asked.
"Well the carrot head sure is a serious threat but is unskilled and unexperienced yet aspires to be someone greater. While this guy is smart and talented yet thinks he's under the shrimp.", Kuroo explained.
