"Kenta, slow down.", A young, 12 year old Mizuki said.
"I promise they'll be able to make you genuinely smile.", Kenta replied, holding her hand while walking quickly.
She looked down with a heavy heart, asking herself if someone can lessen the pain in her heart. It's been a year since her mother passed away. The world hasn't been kind to her the past few months. Her father has been drinking almost every night, sometimes he doesn't come home. She was being bullied more in school.
Mizuki managed to fool everyone with her smile, everyone but Kenta and Tendou.
"Quiet down, you'll wake up the twins.", she quietly said.
"They're also twins, so don't confuse them with each other.", he replied, opening the door to his room.
They entered as Mizuki timidly follows Kenta. She wasn't in the mood to fake a smile again since she's been doing it all day. It gets tiring.
"Why fix your hair, you're still ugly.", Osamu said.
"We literally look the same.", Atsumu complained.
"Hey guys.", Kenta called.
The twins looked over at them and saw Mizuki timidly hiding behind Kenta. He noticed it so he moved to the side and held her waist.
"This is Mizuki. I know what you're thinking, she's a goddess descended from heaven. But please try not to fall for her, she's mine.", Kenta introduced her.
Mizuki facepalmed and just looked away in embarrassment.
"I'm Miya Atsumu.", he introduced himself.
"I'm Miya Osamu.", he introduced himself too.
"I'm Honami Mizuki.", she bowed politely since she's a year younger than them.
"Here, you don't have to pretend. Just be yourself.", Kenta smiled at her.
"I don't wanna weep in front of strangers.", she turned around to leave since she really didn't want to meet new people.
But Atsumu took her hand before she could.
"It's okay.", he said.
She looked back and saw Atsumu smiling at her comfortingly. She looked down at his hand holding hers and she pulled her hand away.
"J-just for a few minutes.", she hugged herself.
"Yes!", Kenta silently cheered.
He suddenly carried Mizuki, making her yelp. He threw her on the bed and sat down beside her, pulling her back so she could rest on his shoulders.
"You two seem close.", Osamu noticed.
"Of course we are. If we're not cousins then we'd totally be dating. Right, my princess?", Kenta answered.
"We're 12. Who knows.", she just answered, sighing. "Why would you pull me in here anyway? It's not like I'm not trying to move on.", she asked, getting comfortable on his shoulder.
"I figured meeting new people might do the trick. So I invited my best pals over.", he answered.
"Aren't the people who loves you enough to erase the pain?", Atsumu asked.
"I'm grateful. But that's not gonna bring my parents back.", she closed her eyes, focusing on trying not to cry.
The three kept quiet because of her dark response.
"Sorry. Meeting someone who's... like this, isn't really a good experience. But it's tiring, smiling all the time.", she smiled apologetically.
"It's okay. Knowing what you've been through, we don't expect you to laugh with us.", Osamu comforted her.
