"The crowd was silenced. The whole stadium halted. It seemed like the Earth stopped spinning for a while. Everyone held their breath in anticipation. The earlier loud cheers was converted into nothing as everyone's heart beat rapidly in shock.
*whistle*
And the audience relived once again. The half filled with joyous cheers. The other half filled with shock and disappointment. A winner and a loser.
Basketball.
Volleyball.
Soccer.
Sports.
It brings people together, teaches everyone a lesson, and is enough to make everyone sink in their seats. You might be amazed at how much joy you can find at putting a ball in a basket, hitting a ball over a net, kicking a ball through a goal. But it's more than that. There's a lot more to sports. You put your mind, and heart into it."
I smiled as I sat properly, finishing my explanation of how amazing sports was to my twin nephews. Their eyes sparkled and their mouths was open wide in amazement.
"Wow! Oba-san, I want to play a sport! Teach us!", the two said at the same time.
"Now now, Yuuto and Yuito, isn't it time for you to go to bed?", I pat their heads, asking in a cute and playful tone. The twins whined and looked down.
"Hmm, tell you what, I'll teach you how to play Volleyball tomorrow morning if you go to sleep early.", I said and their eyes lit up. They rushed into bed and I tucked them in, placing kisses on their foreheads.
"Goodnight, you two.", I said with a quiet and gentle voice.
I stood up and left their room quietly to go to the living room. I saw my father still awake, watching TV. I know what'll happen next so I ever so carefully crawled back to my room but to my surprise...
"What took you so long?", I heard him say. He was talking to me and only me.
"Good evening, father. The twins were hard to handle but I managed to get them to sleep.", I answered, standing up properly.
"You're at senior highschool right now but still struggle to put two kids into sleep?", he asked. I looked down and hugged myself.
"I apologize father.", I bowed down.
"Just get my freaking beer.", he snapped. I obeyed and grabbed him a bottle of beer from the refridgerator.
"Here.", I gave it to him. He glared at me and grabbed my hair. He grasped it so hard but I couldn't cry.
"Haven't I told you that I prefer the canned ones?!!!", he shouted.
"W-we're out of t-the canned o-ones.", I answered politely.
He let me of me and slapped me across the face. He grabbed the beer and sat on the sofa. I took this as signal for me to get out. I walked over to the bathroom and washed my face. My cheek was burning red. Again.
I didn't bother to cry. Or ask for help. Because it is useless. I sighed heavily and felt my hands shaking. I stopped my tears.
I shouldn't cry. I wouldn't cry. I couldn't cry. I can't cry. I don't cry. I won't cry.
I lied down on my bed and hugged my pillow, looking at a picture of me and my parents. I was just trying to understand my father, the wound in his heart from when my mother left and died was still fresh. No one can get through and mend his broken heart.
"Mom, what could I do?", I whispered.
I sighed heavily and looked into a mirror. And just thought to myself. It's okay. Tomorrow is another free day and it could be better than this one. Besides, I get to teach the twins my favorite sport.
Volleyball.
Author's Note:
This fanfiction takes place in the second season of Haikyuu! The events of this fanfiction and the show are similar with the addition of the main character you'll soon meet, as well as some minor characters. The main protagonist in this fanfiction will have some relation with a few characters in Haikyuu. The main character will not meddle with the flow of the actual story and will just be there to support some events. There will also be a few tweaks on the timeline and not all scenes are gonna be accurate in order for the story and the main character to fit in a little better so if there's a consecutive schedule from the manga that is not synchronized with the story, it's on purpose to make the story of the main character flow much better.
There are some indicators that show progression of the fanfiction.
~•~•~•~ -means change of point of view(POV)
~°~°~°~ -means time skip
There will be some chapters with theme songs in them just to enhance the mood and vibe of a particular scene or even a whole chapter. The theme songs might be English, Korean or Japanese, whichever suits and supports the feelings of the characters in a scene.
This fanfiction is basically an Haikyuu Alternate Universe where the main protagonist will exist in.
I do not own Haikyuu. Please give respect to the characters of Haikyuu as well as the new characters I will add.
And please do not share this without crediting. I want to emphasize this to avoid plagiarism. The new characters are completely my idea as well as their background story.
Enjoy the fanfiction~!
