Chalice whistled with a spring in her step as she walked down the road. A while ago, a few newcomers came up to the Inkwell Isles from a place called "New York". Chalice knew of the place, how could she not, but it's unlikely that such city people would know of a lil' place like this!

She's seen some of them already. An old man was at the grocers with this woman who Chalice swore bore glowing eyes, even though when she bounded up to greet them the eyes were a lovely blue. A woman with mechanical appendages was seen repairing a ride at the park, an angel recently opened a restaurant, a musician who never shows his face started to perform various kinds of shows at the theater.

There are younger ones too. Two wolves, both clearly stating that they were in no way related with the third who worked mechanics. Two other angels, and one demon, leprechaun, sailor, and spider.

She has seen the kids every now and then, but she was more familiar with the young angel, wolf, and demon. The angel was the only one in that group that talks, the wolf unable to and the demon simply refusing. The cup brothers are fond of them, Cuphead the demon named Bendy and Mugman the wolf named Boris. Alice didn't mind much, surprisingly content as they made sure she was always invited.

A broken glass.

Chalice paused in her steps, lifting her heel. Yep, definitely broken glass making a trail to the woods. She followed it, seeing Boris hiding behind a large rock and Alice watching from afar, silently. The others, the ones she knew called themself the Butcher Gang – they were adults, but also not. Definitely older than the rest of them but young enough to not be considered a full adult. Perhaps around the age of 20 – were trying to retrieve a basket of baked goods from the hands of Bendy. The demon dressed formally was grinning, running around and jumping from tree to tree on occasion. Edgar tried to follow him but kept getting flicked in the face by twigs Bendy would throw. Barley wasn't fast, but he had a great aim and threw rocks up into the trees and Charlie kept chasing him when Bendy was on the ground.

Suddenly, a figure appeared right in front of Bendy and tackled him to the ground, disappearing and reappearing on a nearby branch. The demon crashed onto a pile of leaves in front of Barley and with more inspection, the figure had the basket of goods in it's- her hands.

A ghost, female, definitely younger than Barley but older than Edgar, was sitting on the sturdy limb and eating a croissant from the basket. Just one, as if saving the rest for something. A black bowler hat and sleeveless striped shirt under a pair of overalls. A small scar was seen on her cheek and black lipstick emphasized her smug expression.

"Bendy! Don't it's over now, we can just ask Allison for another basket," Alice called from her spot. Bendy pouted, clearly unhappy, but complied nonetheless. They left, and Boris eagerly followed behind.

That just left the Butcher Gang and the ghost girl.

Charlie dusted himself, Barley raising his arm up to catch the spider still in the trees. The girl hopped down and tossed the basket over, the leader of the gang catching it with ease.

"Slicer, whata pleasant surprise," Charlie told her. She scoffed, before pointing a thumb at her chest.

"The name's Carley, rich of ya to pretend you never knew that," Carley informed them, crossing her arms and tapping her foot quickly. Her thick boots made a loud noise every time it tapped the rock underneath.

"Carley. Well, to be fair, ya nevah told us. In fact, this is t'e first time you've approached us since we all up an' moved 'ere," Barley said, checking Edgar over for any injuries.

"Ah! Charlie, Barley, and Edgar! Whadda y'all three doin' out 'ere? Ya know how much Betty frets when she knows y'all've been out in the woods. Be glad she wan'ed me ta bring y'all back, Sammy would've skinned y'all 'live," a bright light entered the clearing. Out came a man with a projector for a head, the man who helped with the theater from time to time.

There was a clear hesitation in the leader's face. Chalice wasn't familiar with anyone named Betty, and she knew almost everyone. Even the new people.

Edgar walked up to the tall man and grabbed his hand. He looked back to the others and gave a smile. "Come on Boss, let's give Betty our loot, she'd love it."

That was all it took for the rest of them to follow the man back into the town.

Carley let out a yell in frustration, her bracelets making a light clanking sound as they hit each other when she went to hold herself. Her hands traveled up to the wisps of fluffy hair that she had, and she tugged, yelling out.

"It's not fair, it's not fair! I'm finally outside, why isn't it working?!" She yelled out. She sat down on the grass and took several deep breaths.

"Come on, you can do this. It just takes time, it just takes time. Calm down or Slicer will get the better of you."

"Hey there, darling!"

Carley yelled out in surprise, falling back and literally blinking out of existence. Well, for a short period of time, as she came back a few feet away from where she was originally.

A small frown tugged on Chalice's lips as she withdrew her hand in favor of tapping her chin. "Golly, if I didn' know betta, I'd think you are more broken then when the brothers shatter!" She let out a giggle when Carley scowled. What she did not expect was for the Ghost to launch herself forward and wrap her arm on her throat.

"Who are you?! Whaddaya doin' 'ere?" something cold and sharp lightly brushed past her cheek. By focusing her attention, a claw was a hair's breath away from the metal of her head.

Carley blinked, her arm's falling down to her sides in confusion. A laugh erupted from her lips.

"'Golly, if I didn' know betta, I'd' say that I'm, hallucinating again," She grinned. Chalice appeared in front of her, translucent and blue, yet she didn't even flinch.

"Why ain't you surprised? Oh! I forgot you're a ghost like me!" Chalice giggled again before becoming corporeal.

"Mhm, now whaddaya want? Money? My belongings? Sorry, I ain't got much to offer in that department," she scratched her neck, now a bit flustered that she was caught having one of her more vulnerable moments.

A hand was extended, a necklace with a small seashell strung between two blue beads in her hand. "I want you to accompany me in my little... adventures 'round town darlin'!"

Carley hesitated, scanning the other for any ulterior motives. Chalice did have a habit of tricking others, Carley also watched others often, so she knew, but she didn't appear to be trying anything. Quickly, her hand shot out and grabbed the jewelry, holding it close to her chest.

Chalice gave a little squeal of victory, her hands forming fists in front of her in excitement before she started to clasp what appeared to be a matching necklace – but with red beads instead of blue – before tucking it under her sweater. With a breath to steady herself, Carley clasped hers around her own neck and tucked it under her tall and folded collar.

Chalice grabbed her new... friend? Let's go with friend. She grabbed her new friend's hand and started to skip down to the town.

"H-hey! Whaddya doin'?" Charly exclaimed as she stumbled slightly before her pace matched the other.

"Goin' to the town! I saw ya give that basket to those boys, rather nice of ya but I feel you're rather hungry!" Chalice chirped. "Then I can invite ya over to where I reside, it ain't much but if ya wanna stay with me ya can. Or vice versa."

Carley let go of her hand, and started to race down. "Well come on then! I'll race ya to Allison's bakery, yuh should know 'er. No abilities! I won't flow if you don't!"

Now, Chalice has no idea what "flow" is, but she was darn if not being able to use abilities was going to let her lose.

"Deal! Last one there hasta be the distraction for the first heist!"
