Mindy's pov: And so i returned home from another day of working at the plant. I threw myself down and collapsed into the loving arms of my arm chair. It seems that those are the only arms that will hold me now. It's been almost two months since that night at the convention, where i last saw Homer. I wish the best for him, really, but i just wish things could be different for us. I hope he still thinks of me. I took some duff beer out the fridge and fell asleep on the couch.

She turned up at work the next day, tired and really not feeling it all. She parked and dismounted her motorbike, took off her helmet and tossed her pretty long hair aside before groggily entering the plant where her boss was there waiting for her.

"Pushing it today, eh Simmons?" Burns stood there, arms crossed, tapping his feet and frowning at her. "You were almost late. I trust that whatever you were busy with was worth it"

"I-i'm sorry, sir, it won't happen again" She apologised quickly and rushed to work frantically.

"Doh" She muttered under her breathe as she found her station and tried to focus her attention to work. The thoughts of her donut eating, married crush kept filling her mind but she tried to shake them off with lot's of hard work. She just wished she had something to take her mind off of the whole situation. Homer thought of her as well from time to time but he had Marge, he was fulfilled in his marriage but Mindy just had food. dear sweet food had never let her down before but even the tastiest of treats were bitter now.

You sat across from where she worked and noticed how unproductive she was wanted to sort that out. You knew she was a good worker, you just didn't know why she was slacking off like this.

"Uh, excuse me" You strolled over to her.

"Huh?" She sat up straight and lifted her head up from where it was resting.

"Shouldn't you be, y'know, working?" You raised an eyebrow.

"Um, yeah! I am working, i was just kinda resting there" She chuckled nervously and you thought this was even stranger.

"Something the matter?"

"No, everythings just fine, i'll be fine" She smiled and slowly but surely returned to working. You had cured her sudden burst of laziness but you still thought something was the matter.

Lunchtime came, a favourite of all employees, but especially cherished by those two. She opened her lunch box. A burrito, hamburger, milkshake and a box of doughnuts to finish off with. She smiled weakly and tucked in. It was lunchtime for you as well as every other employee. You usually sat alone but upon seeing her hurt face, you decided to sit next to her, give her some company.

She was looking over at another table where Homer was, eating and laughing with his two best friends, Lenny and Carl. You knew about the certain chemistry she had had with the obese man a while ago but you could see she still wasn't completely over him.

"Hey" You smiled softly and sat down at the table she was at.

"Oh, you again, hi" She smiled weakly.

"Lunch couldn't have come sooner today, i'm starving" You grinned at her and took your (f/f) out of your lunchbox.

"Welcome to the club" She giggled.

"That...that's a lot of food you got there" You said, stating the obvious.

"Oh, don't worry, i'll get through it" She laughed and took another huge bite out of her half-chewed burger.

"And you eat like this all the time. I wonder: How do you manage to keep such a trim figure?" You asked. You were genuinely curious but she mistook this for flirting and looked taking aback for a split second.

"We all have our little secrets, i'll never tell" She winked and smiled mysteriously.

You both laughed at this and got to talking as you both tucked into your lunches. She spilled some of the details about Homer and you listened and sympathised and you could see her face lighting up a bit when she realised someone else cared.

Lunch was almost over and you were a little nervous but you knew you would regret it if you didn't ask so you went in for the kill. "Listen, Mindy, would you...are you free to go out tonight?" You coughed.

"Out? Where?" She asked in confusion.

"To dinner?" You asked Slyly.

Her eyes lit up and her face brightened when you said this as food was a big favourite of hers. "Of course! I'm always up for dinner!" She smiled.

"Alright! Well it's on then!" You said as you stood up. "You can pick the place if you want"

"Oh don't worry, i know EXACTLY where to go" She smiled as you both went your separate ways. You somehow really trusted her with that, probably as she was such a foodie, but most importantly you felt lucky to have landed yourself a date with this beautiful and special lady and she was happy to have her mind off Homer.
