Superintendent Chalmers #1 (part two)

After you had only just entered the school, you were now leaving a taking a short walk down the street with the school's superintendent. He seemed friendly and very keen to talk with you and so you obeyed and accompanied him to a small, local cafe that had only just opened.

It was quiet the day as you both found a table and sat down. You found all this highly unorthodox, but didn't question him, for you so dearly wanted this job.

He pulled out a chair for you and you both day down at the round table. "So, (y/n)" he started with a pleasant smile. "I understand you want this job"

"Oh yes, I sincerely do. Working with children had been a great passion of mine and so I hope that I can teach them life skills and knowledge that will prove to be useful" you answered politely.

He seemed greatly impressed by you and so continued. "Ah, you're just what we need. Our old teacher, Edna Krabappel was a woman who is very much missed by the fourth grade. Now I'm not asking you to take her place or anything, only to help these kids and provide them a listening ear and hopefully you will make the same mark on this place that she did"

"I see. Then I have large shoes to fill"

"Indeed" 

the waiter arrived and you placed your orders. "I'll just have a cup of tea if that's alright" you said.

" Oh no, please, have something more, my treat! " he smiled.

 "Oh no, I really couldn't..."

 " I insist'

 "Alright, I'll try some" you were really taken in by his generosity and felt you were going to like working here. He chatted to you about the school, what the teachers were like, the groundskeeper, the kids and he soon started telling you about himself. You thought he was a sweet man and so you told him about yourself too.

Your food arrived very swiftly and you tried some of the cake and you enjoyed yourself and your talk with him. You were eventually finished and you both left.

 "Well, (y/n), it's been great talking to you, and I can say with great pride that you're hired!"

 You could've jumped for joy when he said this. "Oh thank you so much, superintendent, I won't let you down!" You shook his hand.

He paused and looked down for a moment. "(y/n), there's just one thing I want to ask you, and please don't do it just for a favour because I hired you or anything"

 You looked puzzled. "What is it?" You asked.

 " Would you like to do that again? Go out and have a proper meal together? "

You flushed with joy and smiled warmly. "I would love. But let's get back to work now"

 "Alright then" he smiled, feeling happy you accepted his request and that you were now working with him.
