I couldn't say a word as I was shocked. He fired me? Now I was jobless. Three months into work I was fired.
"Leave," Nimek said bringing me back.
I wanted to protest. I wanted to tell him he couldn't do that to me but he showed his back to me turning towards his chair.
"Fucker," I said to myself and walked out of the door.
"How could he do this to me? I wasn't rude to that bitch. Why are people so....ugh." I muttered as I walked inside the office.
Everyone looked at me but I acted as if no one was there. I packed my bag and said goodbye to my desk mates. Were they my desk mates? No, not desk mates they were my pod mates.
"What happened? Where are you going?" Roji whispered while Mausam and Gaurav stared at me.
In these three months, one thing I realised was that Roji was a very nosy person. She was up to know about any drama that was happening in people's lives. I didn't want to tell her but looking at the other two I decided otherwise.
"He fired me," I muttered.
"What?" Roji almost shouted making everyone turn to look toward us.
"Sorry," she whispered. "But what?"
I nodded.
"Why?" Mausam asked.
"He thinks I was rude to that customer. He didn't even let me explain. Forget about believing me," I looked at Mausam.
Gaurav was quiet.
"I should leave," I whispered carrying my bag.
"I am so sorry," Mausam said.
"Not your fault," I forced a smile and then walked out of the room.
I opened the door to my flat and threw my bag on the couch. I was frustrated with what happened at work. How could they treat people like that? Now, I had to find another job. I slumped on the couch and closed my eyes. I was jobless now.
"What am I gonna do now?" I whispered to myself.
I have to start searching for a new job. I got up from the couch and ran towards my room taking my bag with me. I freshened up, ordered food, and sat in front of my laptop. I started to look for a job but there weren't any jobs that would fit me. After a few minutes, the bell rang and I walked out of the room to answer the delivery guy. He handed me my food and left.
When I was about to eat food I got a call from Mausam. She had my number and to be honest I liked her a lot. She wasn't like Roji or Gaurav who would talk sweetly in front of you and backbite when you weren't around. We had gotten closer with time and I didn't mind that.
"Hi," she said as I answered the call.
"Hi," I replied in a lazy tone.
"Are you ok?"
"I don't think so,"
"Don't worry everything will be ok,"
"I don't think that will ever happen."
"You will get a new job. In a way it's good he fired you. Now, you don't have to see his annoying face every day," Mausam tried to convince me but it wasn't helping.
"I am just tired of everything,"
"He came after you left,"
"He must have told everyone what I did or said what he thinks I did," I rolled my eyes.
"No, no. I mean the boss came,"
Boss? wasn't she talking about Nimek?
"Yeah, Nimek is our boss," I said.
