I jumped a little when I heard the door close. I looked at him but he wasn't looking at me. I wanted to get angry at him for all the things I heard and saw but I just couldn't.

"Are you going to sell me?" I asked out of nowhere when he suddenly looked at me. I didn't make a move to walk away from the window neither did he. I watched out of the window where a screaming Rekha was being thrown into a car. Matteo walked inside the mansion shaking his head.

I looked back at Alan again to see if he was going to say something. He didn't.

"That's why you brought me here so....." I couldn't finish it.

Everything had become business to him, even my life.

"No," I heard him say.

I looked at him and he walked closer. I wondered what was going on in his head. I would pay my soul to know it.

"He is not going to lay a finger on you,"

His voice was soft. It's the first time since I was here I heard his soft voice.

I waited to hear more.

"He wants to marry you but I refused the deal,"

"Why?"

He studied me for a while.

"Do you want to?"

His question made me wanna roll my eyes.

"Do you think I want to marry a stranger? a mafia man?"

His eyes fell. I knew what I did there.

"If it's someone I know, I don't mind marrying a mafia," I muttered looking away.

We stayed in silence.

"Good," he said making me look at him.

In the moment we heard a knock on the door.

"Come in," Alan barked with the same rude tone. Ademaro was back now.

Lucia walked in with a plate of food. As soon as I saw what it was my mouth watered. Fish and potato fries.

"Wow," I said forgetting about Niccolo and his marriage offer. Maybe I was calm because I knew Alan would handle him. He would never let me marry him.

"Thank you, I was so hungry," I said holding the tray.

I felt his eyes soften but when I smiled he glared at me.

"Why don't you join me?"

"I will eat in my office," he said looking at Lucia.

"Boss, what would you like for dinner?"

"Leave it up to me," he said.

"You....you want to cook?" she stuttered. I could say he had never cooked in this place.

"I want to eat a Nepali dish today. Do you know how to cook it?" he questioned her.

She shook her head looking down.

"Then stop being surprised," he barked walking towards the door.

"Why is he always so rude," I muttered.

Lucia went silent.

"Is there anything Lucia?"

"I...I was going out..."

I nodded.

"What kind of chocolates should I bring?"

Her question left in with surprise. No one but Alan knew about my love for chocolates. Did he tell her?
