We arrived in Kathmandu in the evening the next day. Alan decided to come to my flat but the calls that he was getting made him change his mind.
"At least have dinner,"
"I can't. It's urgent,"
He dropped me off and left.
"I wonder who was always calling him," I muttered while walking inside the house.
I turned on the lights and slumped on the couch for some time.
The next day Mausam and I decided to have lunch together. There wasn't much work and Alan wasn't in the office.
"I wish I had a boss like Alan,"
"Not everyone is lucky," I grinned.
We were sitting in a restaurant. Mausam wanted to eat Nepali Thali since she never escaped rice on her lunch. I was ok eating rice too but I wasn't the one who couldn't leave without rice.
"How many times do you eat rice in a day?"
"Mostly two but depends,"
"Rice lover," I teased her.
"So how is it going with the manager?" I questioned once we were done eating.
"It's good," she shrugged. "I am happy,"
"So Mister Rudy is keeping you happy," I teased.
"He is very different with me,"
It reminded me of Alan. Alan was different with me too. During the meeting with other people, I could see how angry and rude he could get. I was glad that he showed me his soft side since day one.
"Everyone was talking about Alan the other day,"
So?" I asked.
"Does he get angry with you while working,"
I shook my head.
"Never seen him angry,"
"I heard a few employees talking about how he shouted at the...." She started to think. "That woman the CEO of... I don't remember,"
"What's her name?"
"She has curls,"
"Is it Prisma?"
"Yes," she clicked her fingers. "I heard he shouted at her in front of managers,"
I went silent.
"Do you know why?"
She shrugged.
"I thought you knew the reason that's why I brought it up."
"When was this?"
"In the morning,"
"He is a person too, Mausam. Anyone can get angry,"
"I know but during the meeting..."
"He had a meeting in the morning?"
"I heard it wasn't a planned meeting. Prisma brought managers with her,"
"Maybe that's why he got angry. We always point finger at an angry man without wanting to know the reason,"
"Their reaction makes them the villain," she said.
"Alan isn't a bad person or a boss,"
"Someone is backing him,"
"I would. Always,"
"How was your business trip?"
"It was fun,"
"I wish Nimek would take me with him too,"
