KADE AND JACE STOOD on either sides of Alec as they watched the guests enter the institute, taking their seats.

Kade sent a quick text to Magnus, ‘crash the damn wedding. Stop being so stupid. Alec won’t do it so do it for him. I’m waiting for you.’ Then he quickly slid his phone back in his pocket before randomly patting Alec's back, "dude you're looking so hot right now. Fuck Lydia, marry me instead."

Jace bit back a laugh at his words while Alec chuckled, "Izzy will kill me."

"Oh right we still need to talk about you and Izzy like I need details." Jace said just as Maryse and Robert walked in, approaching their son with smiles on their faces. His two friends zipped their mouths shut and watched the scene unfold.

"When you first proposed to Lydia, I’ll admit, I was wary. But now…" Maryse trailed off, "you’ve made me so proud." Robert then shook Alec’s hand and the couple went to sit down.

"All right," Jace fixed Alec's suit, "you’re ready for this?"

"As ready as I’ll ever be," Alec nodded earning a smile from Jace, "Good."

"I’m glad you two are here with me," Alec said while Kade fixed his own suit, the outfit troubling him since he wasn't used to wear such things.

"Wouldn’t be anywhere else," Jace said at the same time as Kade did, "always. Fuck, I hate suits."

"Me too," both Alec and Jace replied, not used to wearing suits either.

"Oh look," Kade spoke up upon Clary’s arrival while Jace shifted on his feet, "it’s your sis."

"Shut up," Jace grumbled under his breath, avoiding to look at the Fairchild girl while Kade and Alec shared looks of amusement at Jace’s misery. "This is tragic, really."

"Kade, if you don't shut up, I'm going to shove you down the steps and humiliate you in front of everyone." Jace’s threat was empty, all the three boys knew that.

Before Kade could say something, Silent Brother Jeremiah tapped his sceptre on the ground, "attention. The ceremony is about to commence."

Kade's breath got caught up in his throat as Isabelle walked down the aisle with a platter in her hands. Her eyes met Kade’s and she smiled while he noticed that she was wearing one of the dresses they bought earlier.

Once Isabelle was up, Lydia appeared at the entrance, looking as beautiful as ever with her white dress and a bouquet of red roses in her hands. She had a bright smile on her face as she walked down the aisle and Alec took her hand, helping her up once she reached them.

From Izzy’s cushion, Lydia took the bracelet and put it on Alec’s wrist. From Jace’s cushion, Alec grabbed the necklace and slowly clasped it around Lydia’s neck. Kade's eyes fell on Isabelle and he shot her a smile, mouthing, ‘you look perfect,’ at her which she responded with a brighter smile.

"It is time for Alec Lightwood and Lydia Branwell to mark each other with the Wedded Union rune," Brother Jeremiah spoke, "a rune on the hand, a rune on the heart. A union is born."

With the stele, Lydia took the rune and was about to put it on Alec’s wrist when the door slammed open, revealing the one and only, Magnus Bane.  Kade has never felt so relieved in his entire life as he looked at his warlock friend.

Magnus and Alec stared at each other for a good ten seconds, silence lingering in the room until Maryse broke it, "what’s that warlock doing here?"

"Izzy, Kade, did Alec invite Magnus?" Jace whispered to the two as Isabelle replied, "Kade and I did. But I didn’t think he’d show."

Maryse stood up from her seat and walked to Magnus with a stern look on her face, "Magnus, leave this wedding now."

"Maryse, this is between me and your son," Magnus didn't even bother to look at her, "I’ll leave if he asks me to."

"Are you gonna be okay, buddy?" Jace whispered to Alec who stayed quiet.

"Alec?" Lydia called out softly making Alec look back at her, "hey—"

"—I…" Alec's hand reached out to his tie, "I can’t breathe."

"I know," she shot him a reassuring smile, "it’s okay."

"I can’t do this," Alec spoke, shaking his head, "I thought we were doing the right thing, but… this isn’t it."

"You don’t have to explain," Lydia gave him a small smile which he returned with a guilty look, "Lydia, I’m sorry."

"Hey, you deserve to be happy. Okay?"

"Time to shine, Alec." Kade encouraged, "Lydia’s a real one, she'll be fine." Lydia smiled and nodded at Alec who turned around and walked down to Magnus.

Maryse instantly stepped in between him and the warlock before he could reach him, "Alec, what are you doing?"

"Enough," he brushed past her and grabbed Magnus before smashing his lips on his, kissing him in front of everyone, not caring about the consequences.

Kade, Isabelle, Jace, Clary and even Simon had large smiles on their faces at the scene while Kade let out a low whistle which earned chuckles from his friends. Even Magnus and Alec smiled into the kiss. However, Maryse shot him a glare which made him roll his eyes at her.

Once the new couple finally broke apart, Isabelle rushed to them while Maryse and Robert walked away, disappointed.

Kade turned to Lydia who was staring at the group, "hey, I'm sorry." She turned to him, masking her evident sadness by a neutral face, "it’s okay. It— it was the right thing to do."

"Yeah, it was." He muttered, his eyes fixed on the group as well— Isabelle precisely. Lydia noticed and couldn't help but smile, "you love her, don't you?"

"Who?" He played dumb, flickering his eyes to her which made her roll her own, "Isabelle," she stated, "you're in love with her. You should tell her before something goes wrong as you know... with Valentine and all. You'll regret not having told her earlier, trust me."

"I'll take your word for it," he nodded, giving her a small smile, "for once."

"I'm sure it's painful," she gave him a fake sad look, "but it's the right thing to do. You'll thank me later."

"I'd rather die before thanking you for anything."

"Sure, you would."

"So what are you gonna do now?" Kade asked out of curiosity. Lydia gave him a shrug, "dive into work. There's no place for me here."

"Shut up," he sighed, "there's always gonna be a place for you here." She gave him a soft smile, "thank you. Give Alec and Magnus my best." She then nodded slightly before walking away.
