Chapter 1

"Megumi? Are you alright? We have to get out of here. They have left and have killed everyone... We have to go."  Mitsuki gave a tired smile to his twin sister.

"I think I have broken my leg, Mitsuki... I cannot make it out..."  Megumi put her hands on Mitsuki's shoulders and looked at him in his dark brown eyes "The entire village is in flames. You can just leave me here and save your life. I will always love you, my twin brother."

Mitsuki could not believe of what he was hearing from Megumi. He will not leave her behind. He loved his sister very much. They have been through a lot even if they are just 5 years old. Now that their parents and entire village are burning into flames, they only got each other. Mitsuki continued to smile but started to cry.

"Megumi, I will carry you until we find help. We are going to survive this together. You have to trust me."

Carrying Megumi was not an easy task to Mitsuki. But because he wanted both of them to live, they were able to make it out of the burning village alive. They found shelter at a cave and have decided to rest there for the next few days.

*next day*

The sun was shining but the snow almost covered the entrance of the cave. There was a snowstorm the night before. The twins woke up and checked on each other.

"Megumi, is your leg okay? Are you hungry? I am hungry..."

Megumi looked at her brother.

"I'm hungry too. What about we go hunting for food? You can carry me at your back and I'll help you hunt. We have enough wood for fire until tomorrow."

Megumi has a great control of the Yuki clan's ice release. She was considered a prodigy but was not able to do a proper training due to the conflicts that were happening at their village.

The twins went out of the cave and started the hunt. Megumi first saw a big fat bunny and she immediately thought that it will be more than enough to last until dinner time considering the size of it. She closed her dark blue eyes, and when she opened them, they turned into light blue and immediately formed icy blades in the air flying towards the bunny. It was very quick and the bunny was not able to escape.

"Wow! You are the best, Megumi! That bunny will be enough for our lunch and dinner! It will be my turn to cook when we are back in the cave." Mitsuki smiled and started jumping while his sister was on his back.

*back into the cave*

Megumi was just staring at the fire while waiting for the rabbit to be cooked. Using a jutsu made her feel tired and made her nose bleed a bit.

"Megu, I'm so sorry that you had to use a jutsu for us to have food... I'll try to make myself useful next time." Mitsuki looked at her, giving a smile with his eyes smiling as well.

Megumi looked at her twin brother. They are twins but they have a lot of differences. They are like the total opposite of each other. Mitsuki has dark brown hair and dark brown eyes while Megumi has black hair and dark blue eyes. Mitsuki is very friendly and jolly while Megumi is very quiet and cold.

"You do not have to apologize, Mitsuki." She turned her gaze from the fire to her twin brother. "I am your sister and I do not want you to be hungry forever. I am always here for you, Mitsuki."

Mitsuki gave Megumi a smile and said "You know that will sound even great if you will add a smile on your face. But you do not have to do it for me. I'm sure time will come and you will learn how to smile. For now, I think the rabbit is ready."

Megumi tried to absorb what Mitsuki was trying to say but she cannot find the point of smiling. She wondered how can Mitsuki smile after losing their parents and the village. Mitsuki has always been the positive one in the two of them.

*time skip*

The twins have been living in the cave for 2 months now when they heard voices. They did not know what to do and they could not tell if they could trust those people. So they have decided to keep quiet.

After a few minutes, they saw a man with blonde hair looking at them in shock.

"My name is Minato. Are you the survivors of the Yuki clan's massacre that happened a few months ago?"

Megumi's eyes turned to icy blue and answered "Yes. what do you want?"

Minato called his teammate and they looked at the twins. They also gave them some food to eat. The twins looked very skinny and fragile. Minato started to talk to them again.

"I would like both of you to come with us to Konoha. You are more than welcome in our village. We will take care of you there."

Mitsuki's eyes sparkled and smiled "I have heard of Konoha from my father. He was a great shinobi from our clan. He often said that my twin sister here is a prodigy. Will you be able to help her train?"

Minato gave him a wide smile "Of course! You can both trust us. But for now, we need to bring your sister to the hospital. I can see that her leg is broken."

Megumi did not say a single word. If her brother will be happy to move into another village, then she will be happy too.

Minato and his teammate carried the twins at their backs and went straight to the hospital when they arrived at Konoha to treat Megumi's leg, and to give all the nutrition that they have lost in the last few months.
