Chapter 10

*Megumi's POV*

I put on my anbu uniform, tied my hair in a high ponytail, and put on my black and white fox mask. I left home early and went straight to the meetup point. The village is located in between Konoha and Tetsu. It will take at least a week for us to reach there. Everyone in my team was on time so we immediately started our travel to the north.

I am not sure if I am ready to do this mission. If I am ready to kill innocent human beings for the sake of peace for my own village. Before leaving Konoha, Lord Danzo informed me that this might be the hardest mission that he'll be giving me so far but it will all be worth it. It will make me stronger and keep Kakashi and Mitsuki safe. He also told me that I am the only one who can do this mission perfectly because the village is in the north and I am an ice release user.

Lord Danzo gave me the freedom to decide on how to kill every single person in that village. I could kill them painlessly or torture them first and gather some information about the attack that they are planning against Konoha.

There are about 300 people living in the village with no name, and 50 of them are trained shinobis. I was not given any information on why they have started to build a new village but was told that these people are only after war and would only like to cause chaos in order to be known in the future and their first target is Konoha.

While I was thinking of a plan on how to execute this mission seamlessly, an anbu member came close to me and said "Captain, I am not sure if I can do this." It was a girl's voice.

"What do you mean?" I looked at her anbu bear mask as we skipped through the tree branches.

"It is my first mission as an anbu member in the Foundation... I have never done this evil type of mission under the hokage..." She told me with sadness in her voice and added "We will be killing lots of innocent people."

"What is your name?" I asked her.

"I am Reina from the Uchiha Clan."

"Well Reina, if you are not ready for this then you better return back to the village now. I will not tolerate this type of attitude in my team. As an anbu, you must always be ready during missions." I told her while looking at her eyes. She kept quiet and another member came to my side.

"Captain, we found a safe place to rest for the day. Would you like to stop or do we continue?" It took me a while to think. If we stop, then we won't be able to finish the mission early... If we continue, my team might be exhausted even before we start our mission...

"We will stop. Guide us there now." I said while looking straight.

"Yes, captain!" 

*Time skip to a week*

We have reached and now wearing our black cloaks because of the snow and we are standing on the trees with the entire view of the village. It's midday and some people are doing their normal day to day tasks. Little do they know that this will be their last day to see the sun...

"We will attack when everyone is asleep. We'll start at 9pm and end at 11pm sharp. Do you all understand?" I told my team.

The plan is very simple. 8 of us will be going house to house and make sure that nobody suspects that something's going on - meaning, we will kill everyone in their sleep or without them knowing. 3 of my teammates will be on lookout for the shinobis and for people trying to escape.

As we wait, we were stuck looking at the view of the village, which reminded me of my Clan... It has been 5 years since Minato sensei discovered us in the cave. I have loved Konoha with all my heart. They have accepted me and Mitsuki with open arms. I promised myself that I will forever be grateful and useful for Konoha.

There were kids running and playing with snow around this village. Pregnant women, men working, old folks.... It looks like a normal village from the outside. I cannot believe that they are plotting something bad against Konoha.

*Time skip to 9pm*

*Writer's POV*

Megumi opened her eyes icy blue eyes, ready to attack anytime. Almost all of the people in the village are already asleep. She went to the first house and slashed the necks of all the people living there without hesitation, including the children. She did not want to waste time. She was longing for Mitsuki and Kakashi's presence.

She has been running and killing for an hour now. Her fox mask and arms are covered in blood. The village is still silent, as if it was just a normal evening.

at 10:30pm, Megumi reached the final house. Finally. She said in her head. It was a bungalow house with one old woman residing inside. When she was about to slash the neck of the woman with her kunai, the old woman opened her icy blue eyes similar to Megumi's.

What is the meaning of this? Megumi said in her head.

Before Megumi could even speak, the old woman removed Megumi's mask and smiled.

"I knew it was you, Megumi. You have grown into a fine kunoichi, just like what you promised your father and mother." Megumi's eyes grew bigger, kunai still in her hands.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you. We are the last of the the Yuki clan and we found refuge here.." The old woman's eyes said while her gaze turned soft and added "What happened to your brother Mitsuki?"

Megumi walked backwards, dropped the kunais, kneeled on the floor and covered her face with her bloody hands.

"This can't be happening..." She whispered to herself.

She closed her eyes and started to cry. Images of smiling Mitsuki and Kakashi in her head.

What have she become?

She did not know what to do and stayed in this position for a while. The old lady stood up and touched Megumi's shoulders. Megumi was surprised and remembered about the mission.

Do not leave anyone behind.

She opened her icy blue eyes and screamed, sending thousands of icy needles to the old woman. Blood splatting everywhere. Before the old woman lost consciousness and died, she gathered all her strength to say these words to Megumi:

"You are not one of us. You're a monster."
