Chapter 41

*Kakashi's POV*

The mission with Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura ended quite late but since I couldn't sleep, I have decided to visit Minato sensei.

When I reached the cemetery, I saw a woman standing there. I can't be wrong.

It is her.

Her body was trembling and when she was about to fall, I immediately caught her in my arms.

Her face certainly did not change. She is very beautiful but he looks like an Uchiha now because of her black eyes. She had blood on her nose and her mouth but I noticed the tear on her cheek.

She is crying?

She looked at me with a blank stare as I wiped the tear on her cheek and she slowly lost consciousness. Her lips started to look pale and that's when I realized that she had a stab wound on her leg.

There was a poison to whatever stabbed her, so I quickly brought her to the hospital.

I was holding her hand when she woke up the next day. She looked at me without speaking for a brief moment, sat up, and then started to cry.

"Please do not cry... I'm here." I told her as I hugged her

She let go of the hug and looked at me blankly

"There is something about you that I can't remember."

"I will help you remember. I am —"

Our small conversation was cut by the knock on the door. It was the 3rd hokage.

"Yuki Megumi, you are a rogue ninja and you are not welcome here in Konoha. Kakashi is one of my trusted shinobis here and have requested that you recuperate here for a few days. I granted his request but you will be interrogated after you recover."

Megumi looked at him sternly without a word. The hokage smirked and continued to speak

"I haven't seen that cold look for a long time. The least you can say is thank you... Anyway, Kakashi, you'll be in charge of her. Make sure she doesn't get out of your sight."

"Thank you very much, 3rd hokage."

Megumi still haven't spoken a word ever since the hokage visited. She remained silent and stared at the wall for hours until my students arrived to visit her.

"KAKASHI SENSEI!!" Naruto yelled. Sakura was behind him with some flowers in hand and Sasuke who walked with hands in his pockets.

"Megumi san, we are happy to see you back here in Konoha! Here are some flowers for you!" Sakura beamed with gladness as she gave Megumi the flowers. However, Megumi just continued to stare at them with a straight face, specially Sasuke.

"You are an Uchiha." She said

"Tch. Why do you care?" Sasuke said with her eyes closed

"I know your brother. The resemblance is uncanny."

When Sasuke opened his eyes, it was bright red. When I looked at Megumi, she have already activated her Sharingan as well.

Sasuke was about to come closer when I stood in front of him.

"Kakashi. Get out of my way. You there, what do you know about Itachi? Where is he?" Sasuke's voice was full of rage

"If you are strong enough, you'll be able to find him. You are clearly lacking." Megumi said with a smirk

Megumi stood up from her bed and tried to come closer to Sasuke but she fell to the ground and started coughing blood.

"Sakura, take Sasuke and Naruto outside. I'll meet you guys later."

Sakura immediately followed my instructions and I carried Megumi to the bed. I wiped the blood on her face and hands.

"You didn't have to do that." I told her and she looked at me with her Sharingan

"And who are you exactly to tell me that?"

"Why don't you figure out by yourself, since you are acting like a smartass?"

She started to cough out more blood when a person behind me came out of nowhere. He was wearing an orange mask and an Akatsuki cloak.

I immediately pulled out a kunai and he started to speak

"No need for that, Kakashi. I came here to take what's mine."

Megumi gathered all her strength and went to the masked man. She is in her white hospital gown with spots of blood.

"I think you should check for the jinchuriki before it's too late." The masked man said as he carried the now passed out Megumi in his arms and slowly got lost in a twirl.

I quickly went out of the hospital to find Naruto.
