Chapter 34

*3 years later*
*Megumi's POV*

It was my last day at the Foundation and I said my final goodbyes to my colleagues and Lord Danzo.

"You have been a great member of the anbu. Yuki Megumi, I wish you all the best." Lord Danzo said as he shook my hand.

"It was a pleasure, Lord Danzo."

*Kakashi's POV*

I took a day off at work today to celebrate Megumi's last day at the Foundation. She is finally free from all the stress being an anbu.

As I walk back home from Ichiraku, Megumi appeared right in front of me, still in her anbu uniform.

"I'm all yours now, Hatake Kakashi!" She said with a grin and hugged me tightly.

"I'm happy to hear that. How did it go with Lord Danzo?"

"It was fine. I'm finally free. I cannot wait to spend my life with you."

Her smile was very bright. I have never seen her this happy.

"Kakashi, I'd like to tell you something... But we need to go to Minato sensei."

Megumi kneeled before Minato sensei's grave and smiled while touching his tombstone. She stood up, held my hands and looked at me in the eyes.

"Kakashi, I'm pregnant."

It took me a long time to respond as I was not sure if I heard it right.

"Kakashi? Say something! Aren't you happy?" She looked at me with worry.

I shook my head and held her hands tighter in mine.

"I think I am the happiest man on Earth right now! I cannot wait to meet our little bundle of joy! Also, I have been wanting to ask you this for a long time but I didn't know when was the right time... But since you have left the Foundation... I'd like to ask if you'll marry me?"

Her eyes grew bigger and she hugged me tight "Of course! The sooner the better!"

I held her in my arms and we stayed in that position a bit longer.

*4 months later*

We had a simple and private wedding 3 months ago. We only had Guy, Mitsuki, Ayame, Takumi, The Hokage and Lord Danzo as our guests. We didn't want it to be grand... We are obviously not that type of people.

Megumi's tummy has grown huge. When we went to see the doctor a few days ago and she said that we're expecting twins. Megumi's plans on becoming a jonin suddenly changed.

"Kakashi... I think I'd like to stay at home and take care of you and our children... However, I feel like I'm gonna be wasting my knowledge if I don't teach at the academy.." Megumi said as she laid down on my chest.

"Don't think too much, Megu. Whatever your decision may be, I'll support you always."

"Thank you, Kakashi. I'm so lucky to have a husband like you... Do you think our twins will have ice release? Are you going to teach them your chidori? Will they have white hair like yours or black hair like mine? Will they like Icha Icha Paradise? Hmm?" We both giggled.

"Icha Icha will be off limits until they are 18, Megu. I'm sure you will be a great mother. You are already a wonderful wife... I love you so much." I kissed her head and hugged her closer to me.

"I love you very much too..."

"I'm home." When I closed the door, I saw Megumi staring at me with worried eyes. She is sitting on the bed, massaging her tummy.

"Kakashi!! You didn't finish your breakfast this morning... Did it taste terrible? I'm so sorry..." Megumi tried to stand but I quickly ran to her side.

"I was not able to eat... I was running late to my mission this morning. I'm sorry."

"Hmm.. You probably need to work on your time management, Mr. Hatake..."

Megumi has been sensitive when she got pregnant. It's probably the hormones. She would sometimes laugh or cry for no reason. She can also get to be very clingy to me at times.

I feel bad for leaving her alone at home when I'm on missions. She sometimes struggle to stand and walk and often complains on how heavy the twins are. If I could just take away all the pain she is experiencing...

I kissed Megumi's tummy and talked to our children...

"Your dad's home! Me and your mom could not wait to see both of you. Please, no fighting inside mommy's tummy. Do not give her a hard time. We love you two very very much."

"Kakashi? My back pain was terrible today and I was not able to cook for dinner... I feel bad.. I'm so sorry..."

Megumi said with a frown. I looked at her and smiled.

"Don't worry, I'll get some ramen from Ichiraku. Would you like some dangos as well?"

"Yes! I think I'd like a slice of strawberry cake and some unagi as well. I mean, if you don't mind..."

"Of course, anything for my wife and my twins. I'll be back soon." I gave Megumi a kiss and went out to grab some dinner.

It took me an hour to buy all the food requests of my pregnant wife. I didn't mind it though... This is the least that I can do for her.

When I opened the door, I was surprised that the lights were still off. The sun has already set and it was dark in the apartment.

Something is not right.

When I turned on the lights, my eyes did not find Megumi's presence in the room.

I put all the things on the table and checked the bathroom.

Nothing.

I walked over to the bed again and found some spots of blood on the floor.

My wife is in trouble.
