Chapter 9

*Time Skip to 3 days*

*Mitsuki's POV*

My mission with Minato sensei have ended a day early. We just got back and I have decided to buy some sweet bean soup and dango for my sister and Kakashi.

When I reached the flat, Kakashi opened the door on my 2nd knock. That was fast. He opened the door wide enough for me to see my sister sitting on a couch with a huge bruise on her cheek and hands. I dropped everything I was holding and went to my sister. I even forgot to say hi to Kakashi.

"Did he hurt you?" I asked my sister while holding and looking at her hands.

"Huh? Kakashi would never hurt me, you know that. It was just... part of my job. I'm glad you're back, Mitsuki." She quickly stood up and gave me a hug. I did not realize that I am slightly taller than my sister now.

"Who sent you for a mission? You are supposed to rest. You have bandages." I asked while we were still in a hug.

"That I cannot answer. I'm sorry..." Megumi let go of the hug and looked down.

"It's alright. I brought some dangos for you. We can all eat it later. Please excuse me and Kakashi for a while." I said with a smile on my face.

Kakashi looked like his normal self as he followed me into the room.

"What the hell happened?" I asked Kakashi, keeping my tone down.

"It was Lord Danzo. She was summoned for a meeting 3 days ago and she came back on the same day with cuts and bruises. She wouldn't say anything about it." Kakashi sighed and added "Should we inform Minato sensei?"

"No, I don't think Megumi will like that. Let's just let it go for now. Does she have any other injuries?"

"Not that I know of." Kakashi said with a frown.

*Time skip to 2 days*

*Megumi's POV*

My bandages are finally gone. Kakashi and Mitsuki went with me for my final checkup today regarding my eyes. They did not know that my body is also being examined for my next mission...

After finishing all the checkups and examinations, I went to the hospital lobby where the two boys were waiting for me. It took me 3 hours to finish everything. They must have fallen asleep cause of boredom.

I have poked Mitsuki's arm and he gave out a moan. After poking him several times, he finally woke up.

"Oh! You're finally done! What took so long? I thought they were only taking out the bandages?" Mitsuki asked while scratching his eyes.

"I did not know that it will take that long as well." I told Mitsuki as he shook Kakashi's body to wake him up.

After the hospital, we all went to Ichiraku to have some ramen. My brother and Kakashi had a mini competition on who can eat the most. The loser will be paying for everything. Kakashi lost to my brother and paid for everything. I could not help but laugh at their faces after eating that much ramen. What a sight to see.

As we walk through the streets of Konoha, we heard somebody behind us call Kakashi:

"Kakashi! Can you introduce us to your girlfriend now?" It was a dark-haired boy wearing goggles who spoke. He was with a pretty girl with a short brown hair.

Kakashi made introductions and looked like he was caught in an awkward position. I noticed that Rin could not take her eyes off Kakashi. When Kakashi saw that I was looking at Rin, he called out my name and said

"Let's go?" He smiled through his eyes and I felt my cheeks getting warmer.

"Megu? Are you kidding me? Blushing in front of Kakashi now??" Mitsuki said with his arms crossed.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about, Mitsuki. It was nice to meet you, Obito and Rin." I said while looking at them, but Rin turn her head and quickly pulled Obito away with her.

I wonder if I did something wrong...

When we were at the park, we saw some of our classmates at the academy. We saw Guy, Asuma, Kurenai, and Anko. They all still remembered me even if I was away for 3 long years. It felt nice catching up with them.

It's getting dark and it was time to go back home. Me and Mitsuki said our goodbyes to Kakashi.

"Thank you for taking care of me, Kakashi. I don't know how will I ever repay your kindness." My cheeks felt warm as I looked into Kakashi's eyes. His eyes grew bigger and seemed to be very surprised of what I was saying to him. Mitsuki added:

"You are the best, Kakashi.... For my sister.... You know what I mean." Mitsuki gave him a wink. Kakashi's eyes changed from being surprised to a smile. I did not understand what Mitsuki meant but I just shrugged it off. It's probably one of those "boy talks."

When me and Mitsuki reached our home, I told him that I will be gone for a mission in the next few days. He did not ask what type of mission it is going to be and he just told me to be very careful and to stay alive.

"Of course, I will." I told Mitsuki and added "Do you already have a girlfriend?" I looked at him and smiled. Mitsuki opened his eyes so wide while blushing.

"Megu? Where the heck did you learn how to speak like that?? I- I don't have a girlfriend, ok? I am busy doing missions." Mitsuki said while crossing his arms, still blushing.

"Alright, just checking. I honestly do not mind." I smiled at him again. "I am so happy today. I really enjoy hanging out with you and Kakashi. I wonder if it will be the same if our parents did not die." I said those words in my normal tone but Mitsuki looked at me with worried eyes.

"Do you miss our parents, Megu?" He continued to look at me with worried eyes.

"I do. But what's imporant is the present. You are here with me and that's all that matters." I grinned at him and I did not expect to see some tears running down from his eyes. Maybe I said something wrong again...

"I love you, sis! Don't worry, you did not say anything wrong... It just made me happy that you are happy. It's my turn to ask now. How are things with Kakashi? Are you guys in a relationship?" I tried to repeat his question in my head and looked at him with confusion.

"Kakashi is our best friend. Is that what you meant?"

Mitsuki laughed after hearing what I just said. I looked at him, forcing myself to smile even if I did not know if there is something I should be smiling about.

"Nevermind, sis. I think my question was still too advanced for a prodigy like you." Mitsuki gave me a wink.

We spent the rest of the night talking about everything. The bond between me and my brother did not change at all. He kept telling me that I have changed, getting even better, and that he is proud of me. It made me feel good about myself. If my brother is proud of me, then I must be doing everything right.

I slept that night with a smile on my face.
