Chapter 31

*Writer's POV*

Megumi spent the rest of the day asleep. Kakashi was preparing dinner, half naked, when he heard a knock on the door.

"I'll get it." Megumi said as she stood up from the bed. Kakashi nodded and was slightly surprised that she was already awake.

As he heard the door open, He immediately wore his tight sleeveless shirt and mask and turned off the stove.

"Megumi, my sister.." A familiar voice said.

Mitsuki.

He held Megumi in his arms and kissed her cheek.

"M-Mitsu-ki... What are you doing here?" Megumi let go of the hug and looked at her twin brother in shock.

"Look, I just want to talk to you, Megumi... I have been a son of a bitch these past few years."

Kakashi went out of the apartment to give some private space for Mitsuki and Megumi. Megumi is still surprised but a part of her feels relieved that her brother is finally talking to her.

"Megumi... Our past has been very tough.. I still haven't forgotten what you did but I am glad that I can finally say that I have forgiven you. You are my twin sister... The only person that shares the same blood as me." He smiled at Megumi as she continued to look at the floor.

"What made you forgive me?"

"I'm married. I have a newborn child and I do not want to have a bad blood with anyone, especially my sister, when I'm starting a happy family." He held her hands and looked at Megumi.

"I am your twin brother, Megumi. We were always together through tough times. There is nothing we can overcome. Remember?"

Megumi looked at his eyes and started to sob. Mitsuki hugged her tight for a few minutes and they started talking about their childhood memories.

A few hours later, Kakashi arrived back home and was surprised to see the twins laughing. They both stopped to look at him at the door.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I'll go out again."

"No, no. Please, Kakashi. It's getting late anyway, I need to return back to my family." Mitsuki told Kakashi and looked at Megumi again "Sis, I cannot wait for you to meet my wife and my son. I'll see you again next time."

Mitsuki said his goodbyes and went straight home.

"Kakashi... I cannot believe this is happening. It feels like a hole in my heart is gone!" Megumi said while holding Kakashi's hands.

Kakashi smiled at her and enveloped her in a tight hug.

*2 years later*

For the past few years, Megumi and Kakashi continued with their anbu missions. Megumi still had occasional nightmares, but not something she could not handle.

She tried to train sometimes with Kakashi, Shisui and Itachi with their Sharingan but unfortunately, it made her body tremble, making it her weakness.

"Megumi senpai!" Shisui and the others came running to her.

"I'm fine. Don't worry." Megumi smiled as she covered her eyes with her palms.

"Enough for today." Kakashi said in an order and carried Megumi in his arms. "We'll be going now. It was a nice sparring, Shisui, Itachi."

*Megumi's POV*

"Kakashi, you can put me down now... I'm fine, really." I told Kakashi as he hopped from roof to roof.

"We're almost home. Your body is still trembling. I told you that it was a bad idea to train with Sharingan."

"I'm sorry... I just didn't want to give up that easily. I used to be immune to any genjutsu."

"Used to. But not anymore. Please do not do this again. Ok?" He gave me a smile with his one eye and I nodded.

Back home, Kakashi was reading his favorite Icha Icha and I was just finishing up my dinner when we heard a knock on the door.

When Kakashi opened, there were two anbus before us wearing cat and monkey masks.

"Yuki Megumi. Your next mission will be discussed by Lord Danzo tomorrow. Be there by 8am."

"Understood." After I spoke, the anbus disappeared in smoke.

"I wonder what my next mission will be... Looks like we won't be together this time huh?" I looked at Kakashi with a sad smile.

"Hmm. That makes me a bit worried. Considering that your immunity to genjutsu is gone..."

"Don't you underestimate me Mr. Hatake. I'll be fine, you'll see!"

"Lord Danzo." I gave him a small bow and kneeled with one knee on the ground.

"Yuki Megumi. My finest kunoichi. You are aware of the Uchiha's plans against Konoha, yes?"

"Yes, I am. But not into full details."

"Shisui is dead and Itachi will be wiping out his clan in the next few days as part of his mission. This has to be done for the safety of Konoha."

Shisui? dead? I have seen him yesterday during the sparring. Who could've?

"I killed Shisui." Lord Danzo said. "The Uchiha clan is planning a coup d'etat leaving us with no choice but to follow these measures. As I said earlier, this is for the safety of Konoha."

I felt my body tremble as he continued to speak. Tears began to fall from my eyes.

"I understand your fondness for Shisui and Itachi but this is for the greater good. You need to understand, Megumi."

"U-und-erstood."

"Good. For your next mission, you have to ensure that every single Uchiha is dead on that night except for Itachi's younger brother, Uchiha Sasuke. I will be sending more details when the day is nearer. You are not to say about this mission to anyone. Not even Hatake Kakashi. You may go."

As I made the sign for transportation jutsu with my two fingers on my right hand, I felt my body slowly losing consciousness.

*Kakashi's POV*

I was reading Icha Icha Paradise when I saw Megumi out of the smoke, in her anbu uniform and collapsed. I immediately went to her and removed her mask. Her face is moist with a shade of pink. Is it sweat? Has she been crying?

I put the back of my hand on her forehead and felt that she was having a high fever. I immediately carried her to bed, gave her a sponge bath, and changed her clothes to the more comfortable ones.

I was making miso soup at the kitchen when I heard her murmur in her sleep.

"Enough... Please...Please..."

I turned off the stove and immediately ran into her. She was sweating a lot and panting.

"Megumi, it's just a dream. Wake up!" I tried to speak louder and her eyes opened. She sat up, looked at me and started sobbing.
