Chapter 16

*2 weeks later*

*Kakashi's POV*

It has been 2 weeks and we are still here in Kirigakure. The Hokage said that this mission might last upto 6 months... It depends on how the negotiation between Kirigakure and Konoha will go. I really hope it will end soon.

I miss Megumi.

I tried to remember how she peacefully slept in my apartment bed, how she held my hand that night, and her lips... I wish I could keep her close to me at all times.

"Captain, there is a message from the Hokage." Tenzo said behind me, as I rest my head against a huge rock.

"What did it say?" I asked.

It took him a while before he continued and I started to wonder what could possibly go wrong in our mission? Everything's going smoothly as of the moment.

"It's about Yuki Megumi. She has been missing for 13 days and the Hokage is summoning our team to lead the search and rescue for her. We are to leave for Konoha in 2 hours." Tenzo said. I had to ask him again to repeat what he just said, to make sure that I heard it correctly.

Megumi is missing?

How will she be able to defend herself? She have not fully recovered yet and no full control of her ice release.

My mind went blank and it was the first time that I couldn't think of a plan on what to do.

*2 Days later*

*Megumi's POV*

My arms are numb. They have been tied up for... God knows how many days? I'm sitting down, my legs are shaking, waiting for the next beating.

Honestly, they just took me in to torture me about nothing. Do I feel scared? Yes. But I am relieved at the same time, because they got me instead of my brother or Kakashi.

My eyes are blindfolded. They clearly know about my ice release. My hands are tied separately so I couldn't make any hand signs.

My days here are all the same.

They feed me with a disgusting bread 2x a day and I am only allowed to drink a cup of water once a day. Usage of the toilet is allowed 2x a day. They ask me random questions from time to time and if I keep my mouth shut, they either slap or punch me.

I am so used to it and I already feel nothing. Maybe this is my atonement for killing my clan...

I am not sure how many people are in this place. There are probably 3-5 of them? I don't know. There is no way to tell...

I could feel blood dripping all over my body. They must be from all the cuts from the beatings.

Is this all they can do?

Somebody slapped me hard on my right cheek and I felt blood form inside my mouth.

"Wake up, bitch!" He yelled in front of my face.

I knew that he was close so I spit all the blood in my mouth to his face.

He laughed as loud as he could, and he punched my stomach as hard as he could.

That hurts.

I coughed up blood and I heard a woman's voice said:

"Enough!"

The guy in front of me added, "No food and water for you today, little bitch."

I don't really care at all. If they don't feed me, then I will die of hunger and dehydration. That would be an easy death instead of them torturing me.

An image of Kakashi and Mitsuki came into my mind... Are they worried about me? Are they looking for me?

I have been a burden again. I promised myself that I will be strong to be able to protect those two but it is me who needs some rescuing now...

I felt somebody walk towards me. It was the woman. She said in a low voice, "Listen, if you want to stay alive, then you better stop playing with these games. Follow all his instructions. Do you understand?"

"Who is he?" I asked and added, "Is he the one with the orange mask? The one who abducted me?"

"Yes." The woman said and walked away.

I fell asleep for a while... I am not sure how long... Probably an hour or two? I woke up when I felt like there was a presence of a person in front of me.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"You are a smart one. Do you know that? But you are too confident. Do you think you have been through a lot? Let's see..." He immediately took off my blindfold with one hand and before I know it, I was already looking at the hole in the mask... A sharingan...

Kakashi and Mitsuki... Being stabbed by him a thousand times until their insides come out... Their intestines, their lungs, their hearts... He then cut their heads off, taking their eyes one by one...

No. It's just a genjutsu. It can't be real.

I tried to close my eyes and pinch myself.

I opened my eyes and the same scenario started all over again...

"You think you've gone through the worst?" The guy in the mask said as he continued to butcher the important persons in my life.

I felt my body shake and I became weak. The guy in the mask stopped his jutsu and I am just now staring blankly in his eyes.

I felt myself lose consciousness...

*Writer's POV*

When Megumi passed out, the woman came.

"Did you really have to do that? Do you want her to die?" She asked the man in the mask.

"I want her to feel a little of what I have felt. She is the most important person in Kakashi's life right now. I will ruin her or I will make her mine. I will make sure to make Kakashi suffer and drown in pain." He said with anger in his voice.

"We better stop doing this nonsense. We have better things to do. Shall we just leave her here?" Another guy asked.

"Yes. We will just leave her here. Anyway, the dog is on his way." The man in the mask said.

They put back the blindfold on Megumi and left a couple of hours later.

*Kakashi's POV*

We have just got back in Konoha and there is no time to waste. I have summoned Pakkun to start the search for Megumi.

"Boss, she is not far away from Konoha." Pakkun said and started to run towards Megumi's scent.

"Let's go, Kakashi!" Mitsuki said from behind. He insisted to help in locating Megumi.

Konoha was greatly disturbed by Megumi's disappearance. She was one of the village's strongest shinobi and she went missing. The Hokage have implemented curfew until further notice, and the jonins and anbus took turns in doing rounds 24/7 to ensure the safety of the people in the village.

Two hours later, Pakkun, Kakashi, Mitsuki and Tenzo are still skipping on the tree branches.

"Are you sure we are on the right track, Pakkun?" Kakashi asked.

"Yes, boss. We are almost there." Pakkun said.

After half an hour, we have reached our destination. It was a hidden cave behind a huge waterfalls.
