Chapter 4

*Time skip to a year*

*Writer's POV*

The twins and Kakashi are all 7 years old now. Kakashi and Megumi had been in different types of missions outside Konoha together with their respective teams for 6 months straight, and today will be their first day off together.

Mitsuki is still at the ninja academy, hoping to graduate next year so that he can go to different missions with his twin sister.

*Megumi's POV*

I have been awake for half an hour now but all I can do was stare at the ceiling. Doing missions made me feel alive but I never thought that my body will be exhausted like this.

I took a deep breath and touched my forehead - it's incredibly warm. I wonder if I'm having a fever. I never had a fever before, so there's no way I can tell if I am sick or just super tired.

I stood up, still in my oversized pink pajamas and beige sweater and knocked at my brother's door. It took him a while to open it. I guess he woke up late again and now rushing to go to the academy.

When he opened the door, his face turned from a smiling one to a very surprised and worried one.

"Megumi?? You look very pale! And you are having a nosebleed. What happened?" He pulled me towards the kitchen and took some tissue to help me wipe off the blood on my face.

"Oh, I didn't notice that. I don't feel like my normal self. I think I'm just tired from all the missions lately." I took the tissue box from his hand and sat on the couch in the living room.

"Probably. I will inform Minato sensei. I have to run now to the academy. I have a very important exam. I will get back and take care of you later. I'm so sorry, sis." Mitsuki said with a frown on his face. When I nodded, he rushed to the door and ran as fast as he could.

I could hear my brother's footsteps running for a few seconds and it was all silence. I took the blanket from my room and hugged myself in it. When I was about to go back to the couch in the living room to lie down, I felt a sharp pain in my head and felt that everything around me was falling apart.

*Kakashi's POV*

It has been a year since me and Megumi became genins. My days at the academy were fun because of her. I have never seen her smile but her presence was very comforting to me. It felt like we were sharing some kind of pain in our lives.

We would practice our shuriken jutsu together almost everyday and even talk about the great shinobis and history of Konoha. We loved to study and would always get almost full marks in the exams.

I was not able to see her since our graduation cause we were in different teams. I wonder how is she doing...

When I was about to leave my flat, Minato sensei showed in front of my door using transportation jutsu.

"Hi Kakashi. I know it's your off but could you please help look after Megumi today? Mitsuki informed me that she is having a bad fever. You might need to bring her to the hospital. I am needed in the ongoing meeting at the office and just sent my clone to say this to you. Thank you, Kakashi." The clone turned into smoke and I used my transportation jutsu to reach as fast as I could in front of Megumi and Mitsuki's flat.

I knocked on the door three times but nobody's answering. Something bad might have happened... I used my strength and have broken the doorknob to force it open and there I saw her on the floor... Unconscious.

I kneeled on the ground and put her head in my arms. Her face was very pale and very warm. There were traces of blood in between her nose and mouth, and on her forehead. She might have hit her head when she knocked out. Her entire body was shivering as well. I immediately carried her in my arms and used transportation jutsu to the hospital. 

*Time skip to 3 days*

*Megumi's POV*

I felt a terrible headache and when I opened my eyes, I stared at the ceiling - which was not the ceiling in my bedroom. I felt my body trembling as I tried to move my head. I looked to my right and saw Kakashi sitting down beside my bed and looking at me with his smiling eyes.

"Looks like you are awake, sleeping beauty. How are you feeling?" He asked as he moved his head closer to mine and reached out to touch my forehead.

To my surprise of his sudden actions, I could not help but feel embarrassed. I looked at him with wide eyes and immediately shifted my gaze down.

"Your fever have subsided. The color is back in your face again. Maybe you'll be able to go back home soon, just like what the doctor said." Kakashi smiled again and we heard the door open.

It was the wailing Mitsuki.

"MEGUMIIIIIIIII. Uwaaaaaaaaaaah uwaaaaah I thought you were going to die uwaaaaah" Mitsuki ran to my bed and got me in a tight hug.

"Calm down, Mitsuki. It was just a fever... and stop wailing like a pig." I told my twin brother while Kakashi gave him a cup of water to calm down.

A few minutes later, the doctor went in to check on me. He said that I am okay now and ready to go home. However, I still need to stay home for a couple of days to regain back my strength.

"The reason for your nosebleed is because you have used your ice release too much. You have to be careful in using your kekkei genkai. It will be very harmful if you overexert a huge amount of it again in the future. It may cause you to die. In the next couple of days, there will be no training and no missions. Just stay at home and drink all the medicines and vitamins that will be given to you." The doctor said and then left the room.

I looked at Mitsuki and Kakashi and they both looked at me with worried eyes. I immediately looked down and said "I am fine. Don't look at me like that."

*Time Skip to evening on the same day*

*writer's POV*

It was already evening when the twins reached their flat. Kakashi went back with them and helped carry some of Megumi's things.

When Mitsuki opened the door, Minato and Kushina came into view. They have prepared dinner for the kids and was waiting there to surprise them.

"Welcome back, Megumi! We are glad that you are fine now. We were so worried when Kakashi told us that he found you lying on the floor..." Minato said with worry on his face and continued to talk.

"I have replaced the doorknob that Kakashi broke to be able to save you. We also prepared some dinner for everyone. Kakashi, your off will be extended too! So don't worry about getting home late today." Minato said with now a grin on his face.

*Megumi's POV*

So it has been Kakashi who found me unconscious and who was taking care of me all this time? I am not sure how I'll be able to repay his kindness...

I looked at Kakashi, who was already staring back at me and said:

"Thank you, Kakashi. And I'm sorry for the trouble... You must have missed some missions because of me." I started to look down on the floor again... It became like a bad habit of mine now. I do not know how to handle my emotions.

Kakashi held both of my hands. To my surprise, I looked at him and he was already doing that grin with his eyes.

"I'll do anything for you, Megumi."

Those words that Kakashi said had a huge impact in me and I have never felt this happy before. Before I know it, I felt my lips slightly curve upwards.

*Kakashi's POV*

I am not sure how long I have been staring at Megumi but I think she just smiled at me. Her. first. smile. I held her hands tighter in mine and pulled her to the dining table where the delicious smell of food is coming from.

We ate and ate until we couldn't anymore, and stayed up late together talking about everything. It was one of the best days of my life.
