Chapter 19

*Megumi's POV*

Kakashi waited in the living room as I get ready for the party. Kakashi said that it took him a long time to prepare for this and he was excited for me to see it. I came out of the room wearing black leggings and a baggy shirt.

"Megu.. It's your birthday, you have to wear something different... Maybe something special for today." He said with a smile on his face.

"This is comfortable... Isn't this nice?" I asked looking straight at him.

He stood up from his seat and walked towards me. he lifted my chin up, kissed my forehead and said:

"You'll always look beautiful to me... Since the day that we met." He smiled with his eyes and added, "You know what, nevermind, you can decide on what you want to wear today." He continued to smile.

He made me so confused so I just smiled back, went back into my room and changed.

Unfortunately, I only have one dress in my closet and it was something that my brother has bought for me. He said I should always have a dress ready.

It was a black sparkly dress. It is sleeveless and it is a bit conservative. The length goes up to my knees. I braided my hair down to my waist and wore my glasses. I also wore my black flat shoes to match with the dress.

When I went outside the room, Kakashi looked at me with awe. His cheeks turned pink and said, "You look amazing..." He continued to look at me from head to toe, stood up, walked towards me and cupped my face in his hands.

"Thank you! I'm good to go." I smiled at him. He kissed my forehead, put on his mask, held my hand and left the apartment.

As we walk through the streets of Konoha, people keep on staring at me and I felt embarrassed. Kakashi saw my reaction, smiled and said, "You are a famous kunoichi here in Konoha, and it's our first time to see you in a dress. There's nothing to be shy about."

I nodded and we continued to walk.

"Big sis, big sis!" I heard somebody called behind and when I turned around, it was Naruto.

"So it was you that they were all looking at! You look very beautiful! Who is this guy with you??" He asked with his arms crossed.

I smiled at him and said, "This is Kakashi."

"Kakashi? Hmm. I am Naruto, and I will be a Hokage one day. Believe it!" He looked at Kakashi and immediately ran away.

Me and Kakashi looked at each other and giggled. We continued to walk, and stopped in front of my favorite bakeshop.

When we got in, Kakashi's face seemed to be in panic. He talked to the owner who looked so pissed at him and the owner walked towards me.

"Megumi, You look so beautiful, as always! Happy Birthday." She passed a small box to me and said, "this is from my son and he have chosen this for you. it is a beautiful and expensive bracelet."

I looked at Kakashi's face. He was looking at the small box and looks defeated.

I smiled at the bakeshop owner and said, "I'm so sorry, madam, I could not possibly accept this. As you can see, I already have a boyfriend." I nodded towards Kakashi and added, "But I appreciate the kind gesture."

The bakeshop owner gave Kakashi a deadly stare. Kakashi's eyes grew bigger, smiled, and scratched the back of his head.

I held Kakashi's hand and walked out of the bakeshop.

"So, boyfriend huh? I—" I cut him off and asked.

"What happened in there? Why did she look so angry at you?" I asked him in confusion.

He looked straight as we walked, and started to explain:

"I have planned a special dinner for you in there. I know that it's your favorite bakeshop that sells strawberry shortcake... I told them to make it extra special because it is for someone important to me. Everything's planned and I have paid them a month early... But when she saw you today with me, she did not expect that the person I was talking about is you. She said you are to wed her son... Is that true?" He looked at me with sad eyes.

"Are you really going to belive that nonsense?" I asked and started to laugh. His eyes smiled and giggled.

"Let's go to Ichiraku for dinner! It's my treat." I told Kakashi.

*Kakashi's POV*

I can't believe that Megumi was able to finish 5 bowls of ramen. She said she could eat more if she wanted to and Naruto have taught her how to do so.

It was already dark when we left Ichiraku. Megumi pulled my hand and said that she wanted to go somewhere.

My guess was right.

She held my hand and lead the way to Minato sensei's grave. At first she just stood there, looked at the tombstone and said nothing. A few minutes later, she looked at me with her hands at the back, and I looked at her.

"Kakashi... Thank you for making my birthday special. I'm so sorry that it did not go according to your plan... And I'm sorry if I was at the hospital when you turned 17... Anyway, I enjoyed today and it's because of you. I'm grateful." She smiled with her eyes. "Also..." She stopped talking and looked down.

"Also... it's not easy for me to say this but.. uhh.." She paused, took a deep breath and closed her eyes but nothing came out.

I lifted her chin, removed my mask and moved my head closer to hers.

"say it" I whispered.

Her eyes slightly grew bigger and I saw the stars' reflection in her dark blue eyes.

"I love you, Kakashi." 

Hearing those words from her made me the happiest man on Earth. I immediately kissed her and she wrapped her arms around me.

"I love you too, Megumi" I kissed her again.

"Does this mean that you are officially my boyfriend now?" She asked in between the kiss.

"I though we were already together ages ago..." I smiled with my eyes and she snorted. She's probably thinking about how Mitsuki would react if we'll tell him like that.

On our way back home, she requested to drop by a bar and get some drinks. Since it's her birthday and she's with me, I'm letting her do so.

After 3 bottles of sake, she wouldn't stop giggling about everything. Guy saw us and joined.

"Ahh these youthfuls enjoying the night! Count me in!" He said with a grin.

Great.

"GUY!! YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT *hiccup* HAPP *hiccup* END!!" Megumi yelled at Guy who was sitting beside her. "KAKASHI IS MY *hiccup* BOYFRIEND *hiccup*"

Guy's tears fell from his eyes nonstop and said:

"KAKASHI, I AM SO HAPPY FOR THE BOTH OF YOU. CHEERS TO THE YOUTH" Guy said, making sure the entire bar could hear his words.

"CHEERS TO THE *hiccup* YOUTH" Megumi added.

Megumi's hiccups are getting more uncontrolled, it means she have drank too much. It's time for us to go.

Guy wouldn't stop crying to the bartender and wouldn't leave the bar. I carried Megumi in my arms and used transportation jutsu to her apartment.

I carried her to bed and changed her clothes to a random pajama set. I thought she was already asleep when she suddenly spoke:

"Ka *hiccup* Kashi... I love you *hiccup* Kakashi." He said with her eyes closed. I turned off the lights in her room and read the information for my next mission in the living room.
