Chapter 14

*Kakashi's POV*

It was already dark outside when the meeting ended. I have decided to buy a slice of strawberry shortcake for Megumi. Outside the bakeshop, I saw Mitsuki holding a girl's hand. He caughted my gaze and waved.

"Kakashi!" They walked towards me and said, "Ah, bought a cake for my sister?" He said grinning. "By the way, this is my girlfriend, Uchiha Reina."

"Hi Reina. I'm Kakashi." I shook hands with Reina. She looked at my anbu uniform.

"Oh you are from the anbu? I was from the anbu before... But I have already quit about 6 years ago..." She said with an awkward smile.

"I see... Well, I better get going. I still need to drop by Mitsuki's flat and give this to Megumi." I said with my eyes smiling. Mitsuki's brows furrowed and said "What do you mean? She said she won't be home today. She is out for an urgent mission."

"I see." I waved goodbye to both of them.

There is no way that she is in a mission right now.

*Megumi's POV*

I have quickly changed to my black pants and crop top right after the meeting. I've put on my glasses and wiped the blood in between my nose and mouth. I accidentally used my kekkei genkai again...

At the park, I saw Guy and Asuma.

"Megumi! Aren't you looking extremely youthful today??" Guy said with a thumbs up.

"I do?" I asked and looked down at my outfit.

"Yes you do. You look very beautiful." Asuma said with pink tint in his cheeks and added, "Since you have already recovered, why don't we go have some bbq?"

"That would be nice." I told them with a fake smile... But they didn't seem to notice, as they were very excited.

*Kakashi's POV*

I have been looking for Megumi around the village for 2 hours now but she is nowhere to be found. I did not want to give up, so I went to check the shops, restaurants and bars that are still open.

When I came out of the bakery shop that she loves, I heard a noise from the outside. I saw Asuma and Guy singing, while Megumi was behind them with 2 bottles of sake in her hands. Her cheeks were red and she kept laughing at the two guys. Everyone was looking at them because of the noise that they were making at the middle of the night.

"ASUMA, LET'S HAVE A RACE. WHOEVER WINS WILL GET ANOTHER BOTTLE OF SAKEEEEE!" Guy yelled at Asuma even if he was just beside him.

"3...2...1... LET'S GO" Asuma said and quickly ran. Guy followed him and Megumi was left behind, laughing. I walked towards her and when she saw me, her eyes grew bigger and drank the sake in her right hand. She chugged it all down her throat. When she finished, she threw the bottle away and drank the last bottle in her left hand.

"KAKASHI!" She waved and ran towards my direction. She was clearly very drunk and stumbled. I caught her in my arms and when she looked up at my face, she giggled and made a childlike smile.

Megumi held my hand as we walked to somewhere familiar... She's leading me to Minato sensei's grave.

"Kakashi, why were you looking for me? You heard everything during the meeting, right?" She said smiling and added, "I wasn't the girl that you have met before. I am a monster." Her voice cracked a bit but continued to smile.

When we reached Minato sensei's grave, Megumi sat on the ground, threw her glasses, and burried her face in her hands.

"These glasses make me feel very uncomfortable." She giggled. I thought she was just scratching her eyes but she is crying. She's trying to hide her tears from me.

"What have I become? I despise myself." Her voice is softer now and she was not smiling anymore.

I picked up her glasses from the ground and sat beside her.

"Kakashi, I-" When she looked at me, she was surprised of how near I was and it made her stop talking. She looked at me with her dark blue eyes and tried to put down my mask.

"Kakashi..." Her voice was shaking as she continued to put down my mask as I looked at her with worry.

"I..." She cupped my face in her hands and I moved closer until our foreheads touch. We closed our eyes and I said:

"I love you, Megumi."

I planted a kiss on her lips. We kissed gently for a minute or two until her lips stopped moving. She passed out. She would probably get a lot of scolding from Mitsuki... I sighed and I have decided to carry her back to my apartment.

*Megumi's POV*

I woke up with a very bad hangover and when I looked around, I was in a room that I have never seen before. Where the hell am I? Whose baggy clothes am I wearing?? I don't remember a single thing that happened last night!

I tried to sit up and look around. When I looked at the windows behind me, I saw a picture frame with Minato sensei, Kakashi, Rin and Obito.

I must be in Kakashi's apartment.

I felt my cheeks become very hot when I saw the door open. It was Kakashi. When he saw me looking at him, he smiled with his eyes and said:

"Good Morning, Megumi? How are you feeling?" He asked with worry in his eyes.

"D-d-d-did some-thing hap-pene-d be-twe-en us?" It came out very soft and shaky, as I couldn't stop my stuttering.

Kakashi sat on the bed, continued to smile and asked, "You don't remember, do you?"

I felt my eyes grew bigger, my cheeks hotter, and goosebumps all over my body.

"Nothing happened between us. Of course I won't do that when you're clearly drunk. You can calm down now." Kakashi said. His face turned serious and added, "Please do not drink too much again. It's dangerous. You can't even remember what happened."

I couldn't think of anything to say. I kept silent and looked down.

"I have prepared some miso soup to help you with your hangover. I'll have to leave soon for a mission but feel free to use anything you need here." He said with a smile.

"Thanks, Kakashi...Uhh.. I... Are you going to tell Mitsu-" Before I could finish my sentence, he said:

"Yes."

I furrowed my eyebrows grasped the hem of his shirt and said "No, please don't tell him. He will kill me."

I didn't expect his face to be very close to mine and I felt my eyes drown in his gaze. He cupped my left cheek with his left hand, pulled his mask down with his right hand and kissed my lips gently.

I closed my eyes. I felt like I was dreaming.

He let go of the kiss, smiled, stood up and walked towards the door. My cheeks were burning from the kiss and I remembered to ask another thing:

"Kakashi... Were you the one who changed my clothes last night?"

Kakashi was already outside and was about to close the door when he said

"Yes."
