Chapter 39

*Megumi's POV*

Today is the day that I'm going to Konoha with Itachi and Kisame. I'm not looking forward to it but orders are orders. I got out of bed and took a shower.

Under my Akatsuki cloak, I put on my black crop top, black skort, fish net leggings, black glovelettes, and open-toed black knee high flat boots.

When I got out of the room, I saw Tobi staring at me with his arms crossed.

"Were you waiting for me?"

"I was. I wanted to say goodbye."

"I will see you in a week or two."

"I know.. But still. Anyway, Itachi and Kisame are waiting for you at the entrance of the village."

He kissed me on my forehead and immediately put on his orange mask. I felt my cheeks blush but shrugged it off.

"Be careful out there." He said as he put on me the straw hat with white fringe surrounding most of it.

"I will."

"We're here." Itachi said with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Lead the way." I told him.

We were able to easily infiltrate the village. We went to Itachi's favorite dango shop and rested there until we heard familiar voices. It was Sasuke, greeting Kakashi. Itachi looked at his brother for a minute and gave us a cue to leave as quick as we can.

*Kakashi's POV*

When I went to the river banks, I saw Kurenai and Asuma fighting two shinobis. One of them is... Uchiha Itachi. I was about to attack him when another shinobi jumped right in front of me.

"I'll take care of this one, Itachi."

It's the voice that I did not hear for a very long time. The voice that I have been longing for....

When she took out her straw hat, her long black hair danced with the wind. I saw her red eyes with a snowflake black pattern glaring at me.

Mangekyo sharingan?

I was left dumbfounded. I am sure that this is my wife standing before me but I am still a bit in doubt.

"Hatake Kakashi, you look like you have seen a ghost." She said in a cold tone. It reminded me of the first time I met her at Icihiraku.

"Are you really Megumi? How did you get your Sharingan? What happened to you? Don't you remember me?" I asked in a frustrated manner. I wanted to burst into tears but I can't. I could tell that she could kill me anytime and I cannot let my guard down.

"I believe that it is none of your business." she made some hand signs and made a huge fireball aiming at me. I easily dodged it and went behind her, kunai pointing at her neck. There is no way that I could hurt her.

She held my hand with kunai and I felt it turning into ice. Before I know it, Guy was already standing in between us.

*everybody knows what happened here so let's skip to after all the chit chat :D*

"Megumi, Kisame, we have to go." Itachi said.

Before my body collapsed because of Itachi's genjutsu, I catched a glimpse of Megumi's glance before they left. She looked at me with confusion in her eyes.

*Megumi's POV*

"You are a strong one, Megumi." Kisame said with a smirk.

"I was once an anbu at the Foundation and the top kunoichi at Konoha for years. I wouldn't want to disappoint."

"Let's be more careful. If the other jonins knew that we infiltrated the village, we'll be outnumbered and we do not want that to happen. We only need the jinchuriki." Itachi said in a calm tone.

"Of course. Let's get going then." I said as I stood up from the rock the I was sitting on.

We found the jinchuriki and Itachi was toying with his younger brother when Jiraiya came to the rescue.

"Let's get this over with." I said as I activated my Sharingan. I ran towards the jinchuriki, had him under my genjutsu, and quickly knocked him out with one punch in his gut.

"Itachi, Kisame, let's go!"

I followed Itachi and Kisame towards to the exit when I felt a hand pull my shoulder. I turned to look and I saw a white-haired shinobi with a mask.

"You? Again?" I said in a pissed off manner

He put one of his arms around his stomach. He must still be in pain because of Itachi's Tsukuyomi. In a few seconds he fell on his back and into the ground.

I put down Naruto on the floor and held a kunai on Kakashi's neck.

"End my suffering now, Megumi." Kakashi said weakly. It was almost a whisper.

The tip of my Kunai sliced a bit of Kakashi's neck. I saw blood came out when a random person landed a very fast kick on my face.

I felt my body slam on the wall and I fell all fours into the ground. Blood coming out of my mouth. I smirked at Guy and quickly summoned Emiko. I was ready for my demonic ice release when I heard Itachi from afar

"Enough! Kisame, take Megumi."

I felt the heat in my eyes, ready to attack, but Kisame carried me through my stomach using Samehada, cutting all the chakra that I was about to use. Emiko disappeared and more blood came out of my mouth and nose.

"What the fuck?" I glared at Kisame

"You heard Itachi." Kisame said as he carried me to his shoulder and ran. I was slowly losing consciousness when I heard

"Amaterasu!"
