It was 3 in the morning when Given went out of her designated room in the center. She's on her way to the bus terminal to catch the first bus that would travel to the city today. This is her new routine and no matter how tiring it is, she don't have the luxury to actually complain about it.
But just as she was about to leave the center, she suddenly saw a man's silhouette standing by the gate causing her insides to actually be shaken.
"W-Who..." Given stuttered in asking while she covered her body with her hands and arms.
"Who are you?!" Goes Given's panicking voice.
She wanted to move closer but she was just too scared to take a step forward especially when the silhouette started to walk its way to her.
"No! 'Wag kang lalapit, I am telling you! Don't!"
"Miss, calm down!"
Given, who was still terrified, slowly opened her eyes and checked who the man was. She thought it'll be someone who planned to burn the center or kill the children like how she had read it on the news but it turns out, it was just Comet - the owner.
"Oh," Given stood straight and fixed herself. Sinaway niya pa ang sarili dahil sa ipinakitang takot. Nakakahiya lalo na kasi dito pa siya nakikitira sa center ngayon.
"Good morning?" Given greeted in the most awkward tone that she could have.
A chuckle escaped Comet's lips. The woman in front of him sure was cute. She was panicking internally but after seeing him walk closer and after hearing his voice, she started to act like she was fine.
"Good morning, miss. Where are you headed this early in the morning?" Comet asked checking his wristwatch. "It's almost 4 in the morning."
"OH! Yes, yes, it's almost 4 AM and I need to catch the first bus going to the city or I'll be late for my first class!"
Comet's brows met as his mind was filled with confusion. What exactly did the woman mean?
"Ha? Saan ka pupunta?" He asked, totally confused - and curious, maybe.
"Uhm, sa ano! Sa Stoneclark, hehe."
Mas lalong kumunot ang noo ni Comet. Stoneclark was their university three hours away from the place they're currently in. He knew it. So the new resident at the center is struggling like this?
"That's too far..."
"I know! So, uhm... I'm sorry but I really need to go. Iiwan na kita please."
Given quickly made a bow and attempted to leave but Comet suddenly grabbed her wrist to stop her from going. Confused, Given looked at the center owner with eyes filled with questions.
"Huh?" Given innocently asked.
"I am... going back to the city today. Isasabay na kita. Hindi mo na mahahabol ang bus ngayon."
"Huh?"
"Huh. Huhtdog."
"What?"
Comet scratched the back of his neck even if it wasn't itchy. He just didn't know what to do with the woman in front of him.
"I mean... I said what I said. I am going back to the city, I can take you with me. We also go the same university so yep. You can... ride with me."
Given tilted her head and tried to think of a way out but failed to come up with something when she saw the time on her wristwatch. Terror ang unang prof nila kaya hindi siya pwedeng mahuli sa klase.
"I... want to decline but I really need to leave now. Are you still gonna get ready?"
"No! Uh... I'll just get my car keys and we'll leave."
Given nodded and Comet rushed to get his jacket. Ah, what a weird first (or is it second?) communication between them.
