Chapter 40 - Premature

Blue's View:
I woke up in the middle of the night with awful cramps in my back. Nightmare was fast asleep besides me and I didn't want to wake him up. I tried changing positions but that didn't help so I went to the bathroom and warmed up a towel and sat up in bed and placed the towel on my lower back. I took some deep breaths.

But the cramps just escalated.

Jeez, was this how my...last pregnancy felt like at six months?

I changed seating positions again when I felt something.

* ...N-Nightmare?!

* Mmph...Blue...?

I threw my pillow in his face.

* My water broke you idiot!

His eyes shot open and he sat up.

* WHAT?!

* This is t-too early!

Nightmare came over to my side.

* I'll get Dream.

* Okay hurry up- I don't know why the pain is- Ngh...

Nightmare quickly went to get Dream, who was also half asleep.

* Nightmare call an ambulance.

He nodded and went to do so.

* The pain's getting worse?

* M-Mhm...-

I cringed as it got worse.

* Am I miscarriaging?!

* This far along? I doubt it, there has to be a reason why your water broke prematurely. Yesterday when you were at the hospital what did the doctor say?

* That my blood pressure was r-really low but he gave me medicine and it went back to normal...Dream I can't let this baby die.

Nightmare entered the room, telling us the ambulance was on the way.

Dream's View:
Blue was stressed but I could tell under everything he was in pain...and not just physically. Nightmare packed a suitcase of clothes, snacks, old...baby clothes from Luna, and other stuff. His hands were shaking but he made sure not to show Blue.

* I'll get the others up and to the hospital to support you guys, ok?

Blue nodded, holding Nightmare's hands and getting up slowly and cautiously. Blue was sitting down on the sofas in dry clothes, focusing on his breathing.

But I could tell the pain had gotten even worse.

* They should be here in a few minutes, do you need anyth-

* Dream is everything alright..?

We turned our heads to see Cross. He rubbed his eyes as he came into the room.

* An ambulance is on its way, Blue's water broke early.

Cross looked at Nightmare then back to Blue.

* You guys are stronger than anyone I know, you'll be okay.

Cross gave Nightmare a 'bro-hug' as we heard the sound of the ambulance. I went to open the door and led the paramedics to the living room.

'Hi there Blue...how are you feeling?'

* It's too early...I'm only six months a-along...

The paramedics saw Blues shortness of breath and attached a breathing mask.

'This will help a lot. What's the pain like from 1 to 10?'

* 9...it's getting w-worse-!

'Deep breaths, we're gonna go to the hospital.'
