Maya
"Good morning sunshine. Time to wake up,"
"Nooooo,"
"Come on. I have bacon cooking,"
"I am not eating bacon!"
"Egg?"
"Yeah,"
"More bacon for me,"
He opened my curtains, and I groaned, rolling my face into my pillow even more. I felt sick. I was too hot. And, I didn't wanna go to school.
In fact I was quite close to crying, even though I knew it would be okay really.
Calum came in next, and lightly shook my shoulders, then gave me a hug, so I assumed yesterday was behind us. I wasn't sure what had happened to put me in such a sad mood, but yesterday had me reflecting on everything and everyone, and it was not fun.
"You have visitors, you might wanna get ready,"
"Who?"
"Friends,"
"What the fuck?"
"Language," he said, waltzing back out the room.
Hauling myself off the bed, I got dressed into my uniform and brushed my hair, fixing my eyebrows with my fingers.
When I left the room, I saw Finn and Ellen sat on the sofa, both of them grinning, and watching as Michael passed me eggs on toast.
"Snapmaps,"
"Huh?"
"I'm not a weirdo I promise I just saw you on snapmaps and we thought you might feel better if we came to school with you," Ellen said, "Sorry that is kind of weird,"
"Can I get you guys a drink?" Michael asked, "It is kinda weird but yanno what? It was at least a nice gesture,"
"Water would be great please," Ellen said, "For us both. Did we freak you out? I'm sorry if we did. I just, we knew you were nervous,"
"It's fine," I laughed, "Nobody has ever done that before,"
"Because it's slightly creepy," Calum said, without looking up from his phone, "But nice too, yes,"
Michael put two glasses of water on the table for them, then sat beside me and ate his bacon sandwich, his eyes flicking between us all. We weren't speaking, so it was incredibly awkward.
After I had finished eating, I excused myself to brush my teeth, then took lunch money from Michael and shoved it in the front pocket of my backpack.
Before we left, I took my location off, because though it was a nice gesture, it had unsettled me a bit because mum and dad constantly used my location against me. Michael seemed to notice, and ushered me back into my room to hug me, but he didn't say anything. He probably didn't want to offend anyone.
"Are you three walking or are we still driving?"
"I would love a lift, please," Finn said, "If that's okay,"
"Of course it is," Mike said, grabbing his keys, "Did you guys need any snacks for school?"
"I'm good,"
"Me too,"
"Awesome, let's go,"
I followed behind them all out to the car, and climbed into the passenger seat when it wasn't taken. Suddenly, I felt silly driving such a short distance, but it actually meant a lot to me that Michael drove me. It made me feel safer, and loved, that he wanted to see me safely at school. Plus there was just something special about being dropped off that I hadn't had before.
