People with siblings would understand how I currently feel, how you have your normal schedules, people you hang out with. Then the sibling arrives out of nowhere, to steer the attention onto them?
Hearing the sound of Bella's truck arrive as I sat across from Jake fixing up his bike, he looked up at me and smiled. The big old goofy smile he gets when it comes to Bella, the stupid little crush. Watching Jake run out of the barn, I followed slowly behind him. Watching his pick up Bella in a twirl.
"Where's hope?" She asked, as I pulled up beside Jake.
"Right here." I smiled.
"Awesome, I-uh- got you guys something." She started, turning around to take down her tailgate. I observed the large figure in her tray, being covered by a sheet. "It's a little crazy."
"We can handle crazy." Jake commented, bringing me into a playful headlock. Bella flipped the sheet up, exposing two run down dirt bikes.
"Naww, how sweet!" I begun, patting Jake on the stomach. "She got you scrap metal!" I laughed, Jake letting me go.
"You shouldn't have." Jake smiled at her.
"I saved it from the junk yard, I think they would probably cost more to fix then what they are worth. But then I thought, if I had a mechanic friend to help me and his assistant that happened to be my sister."
"Oh, me. Being the mechanic type friend." Jake nervously laughed. I rolled my eyes.
"That's right."
"Since when were you into motorcycles?" I questioned.
"Since now." Bella snapped back. Jake and I glared at one another, in the way of us trying to talk to one another telepathically. "I get it if you two think that this is really stupid and reckless."
"Yeah, completely stupid and reckless." Jake looked back at her, observing my sisters face. I caved in, as I heard Charlie's voice in my head. Going, be nice to your sister.
"When do we start?" I smiled, shock washed over her face in an instant.
"Uh- now. Please." We all brought each other into a hug.
"Alright." Jake headed to take the bikes off of the back.
"Oh! Be careful, those things are really-.. heavy." Bella stood shock, watching Jake take the motorbikes down with an ease. "Jake, you're like... buff. You're like 16, how does that happen?"
"Hmm, age is just a number baby, what are you now? Like 40." Jake replied, making me sigh heavily. I turned around and called out to him.
"I'm going to go and make room in the barn!"
Hours went by, helping Jake de assemble the bikes. I sat on my hay bale in the corner of the barn, covering the spell book with a book from school. In my own little world, I noticed the silence appear.
"Hey!" I yelled annoyed.
"Yeah, that's a good song." Jake backed me up.
"Oh, I don't really like music anymore." Bella replied.
"Alright, no more music." Jake said comfortably.
"Hey, hope. Why aren't you helping?" Bella questioned. "What are you studying for?" Jake and I glared at once another.
"I'm studying for this final, in-." I begun, blanked on what subject.
"Latin! She's got a final in latin, bloody geek." He smiled at me, looking at the book covering the spell book. I sighed internally with relief.
"Which leads to my next point, if we are going to be doing this everyday. Which I hope we will, we need to fit some homework into there. I don't want Charlie and Billy thinking I'm a bad influence on you two." Bella commented.
"You influence me? Please." Jake scoffed. "Your sister influences me more then you." Jake gave a subtle wink to me.
"I don't see that, I'm older. So that makes me the influencer and you the influence." Bella said as Jake shook his head.
"No no no, Hopes size and knowledge base and my size and knowledge base, makes us older then you. Because of your general paleness and lack of know how." Jake stated, I sat there quietly in the corner. Amused.
"I convinced you two, to help me build two wheel death machines with me. Doesn't that make you two, young and naïve?" Bella replied.
"Ok." I spoke up, closing the books in my hands. "So where do we stand?" They both looked over to me.
"I'm 35 and you two might be 32." Bella smiled, I shook my head at her with a smile. Hearing a knock on the barn door, I looked over as I heard.
"Yo, Jake, Hope, you guys in here?" Bella flinched and went to grab her bag.
"Hey, it's ok. It's just my boys." Jacob reassured.
"Hey guys, this is Bella. This is Hopes older sister." Jake introduced.
"That's Quill and Bree." I told Bella, as Quill looked over to me with a smile. Rushing over and scooping me up in a big twirl hug.
"Missed you!" Quill yelled.
"Put her down." Jake ordered, hearing a stern tone in his voice. Quill obeyed, placing me down gently.
"So the bikes are true." Quill said as he brought me into a side hug.
"Yeah, taught him everything he knows." Bella joked back.
"What about the fact that you're his girlfriend?" Quill questioned, making me spin into quills chest. Hiding the almost explosion of a laugh. There was an awkward silence, as Bella broke it. Saying.
"Oh, umm.. we're friends?"
"Oh burn!" Bree exclaimed, as I spun out of Quills chest. I felt bad as I watched my best friend slowly die inside.
"Oh, actually. Remember him saying, that she's a girl and a friend." Jake tried to cover his ass.
"Do you remember him making that distinction?" Quill questioned Bree.
"Nope." Bree laughed, as I walked over to join my sisters side.
"Oh, so you guys have girlfriends? That's awesome." Bella joked, making Jake and I giggle.
"Actually, aren't you taking your cousin to prom.. quill?" I cheekily smiled.
"Oh yeah, that's still alright. You want funny Swan, I'll give you funny." Quill took a step towards me, Jake jumped in for me. Beginning to wrestle with Jake, Bree walked over and stood beside me.
"5 bucks on Quill."
"You're on."
