Immortality
/ˌɪmɔːˈtalɪti/ noun
the ability to live forever; eternal life. The coming to terms of learning how to cope with being immortal is... interesting. Unlike the day I was terrified to tell my father about Jacob and I, the man has guns. I could take the shot and still survive, but Jacob couldn't.
Standing there in the kitchen of my family home, I leant against Jacob as we both smiled at Charlie. Who looked at us concerned and slightly amused.
"What's going on, with you two? You're being weird." Charlie laughed.
"We're umm." I begun, as I cleared my throat.
"We're together." Jacob spoke up, we both held our breath as Charlie gave us a funny stare.
"Like together together? Like you guys are dating?" He questioned as we both rapidly nodded, Charlie laughed. Getting to his feet, we both flinched. "It's ok, guys. This." He pointed between us. "It's so good, been waiting for this for years." He got up and headed to the sink, placing his dishes in it. He spun around and leant against the cupboard, amused by us being so nervous. "Come here guys!" He gestured for us to come in for a group hug, we giggled in relief as we brought each other in.
Since then, it's been interesting. The relief of not having to hide our relationship was great, but a thing about that and our previous history of being friends. Charlie became to comfortable with walking into my room, just seeing us chill out like reading or even studying.
About a month into the Charlie knowing, it became incredibly awkward... incredibly fast. As one afternoon, where things were getting hot and heavy with Jacob. Straddling him as he slowly started to undress me, Charlie walked into the room. "Hey guys-."
In a quick panic, I rolled off of Jacob as he grabbed a pillow. Covering himself as Charlie quickly slammed the door shut, yelling out. "Sorry!"Things became easier, Charlie grew the habit of knocking before entering a room and Jacob grew better with expressing his emotions. Oh a warm spring day, I sat across from Charlie as we stared down at an invitation, a wedding one.
"So... Bella is getting married, huh?" I said as I folded my arms, leaning back in my chair.
"Yep." Dad replied with expression in his shoulders, them giving a little bounce as he spoke. "How are you feeling about it?" He looked to me, placing the invitation on the table.
"Dunno, it's weird. That's for sure, I think it's to soon. But if she's happy, that's all I can ask for." I leant forward in my seat, reaching for the invitation to observe the white detailing.
"Yeah, I guess you are right." Charlie sighed heavily. "I might have questionable thoughts about Edward Cullen, but I am really happy you have Jacob." He gave me a small smile, looking up at him as the sun beamed in through the window. Brightening his face up, I smiled back at him.
"Thanks dad." I replied softly.
Enjoying the warm afternoon with dad was really, great. Missing quite a few months of our daddy daughter time, as I was dealing a lot with my magic and wolf issues. It was refreshing, laughing at movies and going to the creek to fish with him. It cleared my mind from a lot of issues and topics that lingered in my head constantly. Maybe I didn't need all those trainings with Sam, maybe I just needed my dad.
Walking home through the forest, Charlie and I laughing as we stood over logs and made our way through some soggy leaves. The warmth the day brought soon disappeared with heavy rain clouds and cold air, running towards the house. My phone begun to buzz as we made it under the shelter, dad taking my fishing rod off of me. He gave me a nod that it was ok to answer my phone. "Answer it, seems important. They've run you twice already, I'll put these away." Giving him a nod, I brought my phone out of my cold and wet pocket. Wiping the screen to see Billy's name pop up on my small screen.
"Hey Billy, what's up?" I asked as I answered his call.
"Hey hope, have you heard from Jake?" He questioned, hearing concern in his voice.
"No." My voice showed how concerned I was, wondering what has happened. "Why? What's happened."
"He received Bella's wedding invite, he stormed off out of the house and took off towards the beach. He won't listen to anyone, but you-." Sighing heavily, I pinched my temple as I let my arm drop to my side.
"Don't worry Billy, I'll get myself organised and I'll be at yours soon." I replied, hearing a sigh of relief come from him.
"Thanks Hope, I can always count on you."
