Preparation for this battle against the newborns has put a new responsibility upon myself, protecting my sister as well as protecting the pack... especially Jacob.
Approaching Jasper, Edward and Bella in the field where the fight will happen. Jacob by my side, finding out Edward wasn't fighting, Jacob asked. "You're not fighting? What, did you pull a muscle or something?"
"He's doing it for me, ok?" Bella spoke up.
"Whatever." Jacob replied to her, with a stern tone. I leant against Jacob as a sign of comfort, as I asked.
"What's the plan?" Jasper looked to us.
"This field will give us an advantage in battle. We need to lure the newborns with Bella's scent, aswell as Hopes. Hers will have to be done by magic, as your wolf stench lingers on her and her scent mix too much. But in conclusion, scent has to lead here." Jasper explained.
"Edward and I are going to a campsite. Even if he carries me, they'll still pick up on our scents." Bella added.
"Your stench, however, is revolting." Edward directed at Jacob, wanting to stir him up.
"Dude, you really don't wanna start comparing stinks." Jacob spat back as I folded my arms.
"What it means is that your scent will mask mine if you carry me." Bella explained for him.
"No. I'll carry Hope, she can easily take some of your scent. So it's a two in one." Jacob said as I looked at him in a shocked and confused manner.
"What?" I narrowed my eyebrows at him.
"You've got this." He reassured me, giving me a nod. I sighed heavily, bringing my hand up. Speaking a phrase of Latin, me being able to feel the odour latch onto me. I shook my body, the same response as the feeling of a cold shiver running down your spine.
"This isn't a good idea." Edward said to Jasper.
"Edward, they won't want to get anywhere near their odour." Jasper looked to us, having enough of the conversation. I stood in front of Jacob.
"Let's go." As Jacob grabbed my hips, before he scooped me up bridal style. I took a sharp breath in, trying not to provide to big of a gasp.
"Eau de wolf coming up." Jacob joked.
"Run." Edward sternly looked at him, Jacob running us to the trails. Spreading my mixed scent about, Jacob came to a walk.
"So, you're gonna ask me to sit out the fight, too?" He asked, making me roll my eyes.
"Jake, if I could tell you to sit out. I would, but you know we don't have a choice. Since you know, you let Sam be Alpha male." I leant my head against his.
"Don't start, you're going to be the strongest creature on this earth. You take orders from him too." He replied back.
"Well, chief Jacob. Lone wolves don't always have the best outcome." I poked his chest.
"Everything has its consequences, some more then others." I rolled my eyes at him once again.
"You need to move on from Bella, it's going to ruin you. Everybody makes choices, you're gonna have to accept hers." I tried to explain to him.
"But you can love more then one person at a time. You can love anyone more then you think, I have seen it with Leah, Sam and Emily." He stated, hearing annoyance in his voice.
"Jacob! She isn't a wolf, she can't imprint. It's like how I am from a different line of wolves. Not sure if I can imprint-." He cut me off, stopping in his tracks.
"It's nothing to do with imprinting." He looked to me, his face inches away from mine. "It has to do with feeling something for somebody. And I know you feel something for me, I can sense how I make you feel, physically. I can't make my way inside that pretty head of yours. I know I make you nervous at times." He smirked, our noses touching one another.
"So, this is all about me? Huh?" I responded.
"It's always about you." He reached in closer, my heart beating out of my chest. I turned my head in a shy matter.
"Jake." I looked back at him, still smirking like a dork.
"Don't worry." He kissed my forehead. "I promised myself we would have an epic first kiss, well... not until you ask me." He started walking again, hiding my face in his neck. Feeling my cheeks heat up.
"I hate you." I said, making him laugh. Taking in his wolf stench, it came out more of a heavy musk to me. My heart continuing to beat out of my chest, with the factor my best friend confessed to know how he makes me feel at times and basically saying how I make him feel. I had an alibi for the fight, I was going camping with Jacob and the boys. Come night fall, arriving by the creek that the pack set up. Sam came running up to me, picking me up in a hug.
"Little wolf!" He cheered, making me laugh.
"Hi!" I replied as he placed me down, he held my face and smiled.
"You're a little miracle, you know that? Tomorrow we're going to destroy those newborns, having our little werewitch by our side." He crouched down, placing a kiss on my forehead.
"Hope! Hope!" Multiple voices called out to me, waiting for Sam to give me the ok. He playfully pushed me towards Jacob, Embry, Paul, Leah and Seth. Jacob bringing me into a side hug, he kissed the top of my head as we all surrounded by one of the bonfires.
"Look at these two!" Paul pointed at us. "How cute are they."
"Shut up Paul, I'll zap ya again." I teased, doing the finger wiggle dance. Embry laughing.
"She did kick your ass that day."
"Alright." Paul put his hands up in surrender. Feeling Jacobs grip around my waist, tighten. I held my breath for a moment, knowing Jacob was being a tease himself. He kept me close for the rest of the night till the sun came over the mountains and danced along the lake, I mentally prepared myself for the day as my hands played with Jacobs hair. Watching him sleep with head on my chest in peace, I smiled to myself as I knew if he died on me. It's going to be the worst feeling to ever feel.
