It was currently 7:15 am when the alarm in Taehyung’s room began to ring, filling the peaceful silence with its blaring sound.

Taehyung lay on his bed, barely stirring despite the persistent noise. With a grumpy sigh, he opened his eyes and turned to the right, eyeing the alarm clock that sat on the table beside his bed.

Realising he was already 15 minutes late, he rubbed his face to shake off the sleepiness, though the fog of drowsiness clung stubbornly, making him even more annoyed.

The reason behind his tiredness was last night's arrangement—Angel, the baby, had slept in his mother's  room instead.

Taehyung hadn’t objected, but he was beginning to regret it. Even though it had only been one night, he had already grown used to holding angel close, the child’s warmth adding a sense of calm he didn’t know he needed until it was gone.

The previous evening, after going to bed with only a half-full stomach, he had lain in bed, trying to sleep, knowing he had work the next day.

But sleep wouldn’t come. He missed Angel beside him, surprised that one night was all it took to miss the baby’s presence. His empty stomach added to his discomfort, though he had been too soured by the evening to go down and eat.

Dragging himself out of bed, Taehyung began making his bed, a habit he had kept since before his marriage to Jennie.

Although they had maids aplenty to handle household chores, he preferred to keep certain tasks, like tidying his bed and closet, to himself. Privacy mattered to him, and he didn’t like it being invaded.

Once his bed was made, he hurried to the washroom for a quick shower to prepare for the day ahead. Despite being groggy, the eagerness to see angel kept him moving.

After 15 minutes, Taehyung stood before his mirror, finishing the last adjustments to his tie, his reflection sharp and well-groomed, ready for work. After one final check in the mirror, he descended the stairs.

As he entered the dining area, he found his family already gathered around the breakfast table, clearly waiting for him. He was indeed running late.

“Good morning, everyone,” he greeted with a small smile, though they all knew it didn’t reach his eyes.

Taehyung’s unease was evident, yet no one pressed him on it, not wanting to push him further.

“Good morning, Bear. Come sit—I made your favourite strawberry pancakes,” Jin said softly, offering a comforting smile to his favourite dongsaeng.
