The golden evening light streamed through the grand windows of the Kim mansion, casting a soft glow on the quiet halls. It was peaceful—almost too peaceful—considering all the men of the house were still at work.
The maids moved around, tending to their tasks with quiet efficiency, their presence barely noticeable in the vast space.
In one of the bedrooms, Mrs Kim Ha-rin rested with the baby, their soft breaths mingling in the quiet air.
Meanwhile, Jungkook had returned home about an hour ago, finally free from the stress of his exams. The relief of completing his last paper washed over him, leaving a satisfied smile on his face. He had given his best and deep down, he knew he had done well.
There was no fear, no anxiety—just the certainty that he would score well.
The first person he met upon entering was Seokjin, who knowing Jungkook’s schedule had already started heating food for him.
The sight had made Jungkook’s heart swell with warmth.
"Thanks, hyung," Jungkook had said with a grateful smile before heading upstairs to freshen up. Seokjin had told him that his mother-in-law was resting with the baby and Jungkook didn't want to disturb them.
Now, feeling refreshed, Jungkook walked downstairs, his stomach growling softly in anticipation of the meal waiting for him .

"Sit down, I’ll serve you," Seokjin said as soon as Jungkook reached the dining area.
Jungkook obeyed, taking a seat as Seokjin placed a plate of freshly made kimchi in front of him. He muttered a soft "thank you" before eagerly taking his first bite, savoring the familiar taste.
Seokjin pulled out the chair beside him and started cutting some fresh fruits, the rhythmic sound of the knife against the cutting board filling the comfortable silence between them.
After a few moments, Seokjin finally spoke, his voice gentle.
"Today was your last exam, right? How did it go?"
Jungkook nodded eagerly, swallowing his bite before answering.
"It went great, hyung," He said, a satisfied moan escaping as he chewed another spoonful of kimchi. "I don’t have to stress anymore."
Seokjin smiled at the younger’s delight but his expression soon turned serious as he hesitated for a second, carefully choosing his words.
"Jungkook," He started softly, his gaze fixed on the plate in front of him. "Would you mind if I ask you something?"
Jungkook looked up at Seokjin’s hesitant tone. The nervousness in his hyung’s voice was unusual, making him curious. He quickly swallowed his food and placed his spoon down, giving Seokjin his full attention.
"Of course, hyung," Jungkook said with a reassuring smile. "Go ahead."
Seokjin took a deep breath before finally asking what had been on his mind for a while now.
