After the sombre funeral, the Kim family and their guests returned to the Kim Mansion, carrying the weight of loss on their shoulders.
The atmosphere was heavy with an indescribable sorrow. Each face was marked by grief, eyes reddened, cheeks streaked with tears shed at Jennie’s grave.
Even those who hadn’t felt close to her couldn’t deny that she’d been part of their lives, that she’d been changing for the better.
Now she was gone, leaving an emptiness that felt raw and surreal.
Taehyung’s expression was difficult to read, though his sadness was palpable.
Taehyung's face was pale, his eyes glossy, as though he was barely holding himself together. He tried to put on a brave front but anyone looking closely could see he was fraying at the edges, struggling with emotions he didn’t want to let out. A tear threatened to escape but he clenched his jaw, inhaled sharply and forced it back.
Park Jiwoo and Soo-ah were the exception. Their tears, though visible, seemed performative, their sadness superficial.
Beneath the façade, they hid smug smiles, feeling a bitter satisfaction that things had gone as they had wanted.
But they hid these feelings carefully, appearing solemn whenever anyone glanced their way.
Meanwhile, Min-jun looked genuinely pained, his gaze sombre as he shuffled quietly with the rest of the family. Unlike his mother and sister, he felt Jennie’s absence deeply and sincerely.
As they approached the mansion gates, the gatekeeper opened them and the cars entered.
One by one, everyone stepped out, subdued and silent.
Taehyung and Hoseok were among the last to get out, followed by Jungkook, who carefully lifted the sleeping angel out of the car, cradling him in his arms.
The baby’s small head rested on his shoulder, his breathing soft and peaceful despite the tension around him .
Taehyung moved to help Jungkook, but before he could, Min-jun hurried over, gently closing the door for Jungkook and offering a warm smile.

“Thank you,” Jungkook said softly, shifting the child’s weight slightly in his arms, the tiny arms wrapping unconsciously around his neck.
As Jungkook walked towards the mansion, Taehyung felt an inexplicable pang as he watched Min-jun linger close to Jungkook, guiding him in.
Hoseok’s tap on his shoulder brought him back to the present, though a vague, uncomfortable feeling still lingered. He brushed it off as they entered the mansion together.
Inside, the family and guests dispersed quietly, moving through the large rooms with a muted sense of purpose.
Jungkook was led by Jimin to Yoongi’s room, where jimin had kindly set out fresh clothes for him.
