Jungkook stood frozen in place, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Soo-ah’s actions had left him in shock—he’d thought her apology was sincere, that she was genuinely remorseful for her behaviour. But now he realised how wrong he had been. She had only feigned guilt to lure him into her scheme, creating an opportunity to humiliate him in front of a crowd, including the media. Jungkook knew this scandal would be a major blow, risking the reputation of both families.
With a smug look, Soo-ah left the stage, her mission accomplished.
Jungkook’s eyes began to sting as they filled with unshed tears. He was on the verge of breaking down, feeling trapped, embarrassed, and at a loss for what to do next.
A few steps away, Taehyung was finishing a call, his back to Jungkook, unaware of the unfolding scene. When Taehyung ended the call and turned around, his gaze immediately landed on Jungkook, still standing there with glassy eyes, wiping his cheeks in an attempt to hide his tears. Taehyung’s worry spiked.
He doesn't know why Jungkook looked so shaken, but he could tell something was very wrong .
Closing the distance between them, Taehyung gently lifted Jungkook’s chin, making him look up.
“What happened?” he asked softly, his voice full of concern.
Jungkook’s lip quivered as he tried to speak, but words failed him. His tears started flowing in earnest, slipping down his cheeks as he looked into Taehyung’s worried eyes.
“Please, tell me what happened, Jungkookie,” Taehyung coaxed again, his voice even softer, yet more anxious.
“My...my back,” Jungkook managed to stammer between sobs, finding it difficult to speak through his tears.
“Your back? Are you hurt?” Taehyung’s concern deepened. Moving closer, he placed a protective arm around Jungkook’s waist, pulling him into an embrace .
The moment his hand brushed against Jungkook’s back, he felt something odd—the fabric of Jungkook’s hanfu had been torn, exposing his bare skin.
Taehyung’s heart sank as he registered the situation.
As Jungkook clung to Taehyung for comfort, pressing his head against Taehyung’s chest, Taehyung noticed a dampness on his fingers.
He looked down and was horrified to see blood staining his fingertips.
When Soo-ah had torn Jungkook’s hanfu, she had unknowingly cut his skin with the scissors.
“Explain everything later, but right now, let’s get you out of here,” Taehyung said firmly, leading Jungkook away. He wrapped his arm around Jungkook in a protective hold, shielding his exposed back from view as they made their way up the stairs.
Fortunately, all the guests and media were occupied in the dining hall, so their exit went unnoticed.
The family members were busy with the event arrangements, leaving Taehyung free to focus on helping Jungkook without interruption.
