Chapter 20: Unknown call

Lini and Will ignored each other for the rest of the afternoon, Will is very angry that Lini went out when there is a psychopath in the wild. And what's more, she went to a bar with the one who was giving her trouble because she is a woman. Besides, as luck would have it, he was there, they slept together? Did they have something between them? Will asks himself lots of questions, lying on the couch watching TV while Lini helps with Agnès' homework. If I don't do anything, he will steal her from me and I would have done all this for nothing. I have to do more to have her with me. thought Will.

Lini went to the shed for her practice, everyone saw an improvement in Lini's work, she almost managed to dodge Taker's punches. But what surprised Lini was when she couldn't avoid a blow from Taker, instead of yelling at her, he helped her up and he checked if she was okay as he didn't do that before. But he keeps calling her Rookie, which annoys Lini, she decides to ignore what they called her, not to be the annoying girl.

She was also doing weight training, she wanted to work her legs today, she was concentrating on her exercise when she felt eyes watching her. She could see through the mirror in front of her that Viscera and Bradshaw were looking at her with evil eyes and it bothered her but tried to ignore it.

Taker comes back inside with Paul then sees Lini doing squats with 25kg weights then watches those checking her up and down a bit further. "I be right back" Said Taker to Paul giving him his notepad and his bottle, he heads to the ring after filling two big bags of weights of 30kg. He throws the bags at Viscera and Bradshaw who are screaming in pain at the weight being thrown at them, which makes Lini smile, "30 minute run with those bags on you right now!" Taker says loudly.

"But Taker..." Viscera said but Taker cut him off right away "one hour! now run before I cut your head off!" Taker told them nastily watching them walk out into the cold with those bags. Lini continued her series of squats, smiling, very happy that Taker threw them out which surprised her as well. "Wait.." Said Taker to Lini who stops when she sees him behind her, she feels Taker tying something around her waist. She looks around her waist and sees a black sweater covering her buttocks, she looks at Taker through the mirror. "no one will bother you anymore, keep going." Said Taker looking at her before going to Paul. She smiled at this small intention of Taker and continued to train.

After practice is over, she walks to her car when someone calls her, then turns around, to her surprise, it's Paul walking towards her with a paper. "It's to give you this." Said Paul handing her a piece of paper with a number written on it. "That's Taker's number if you need anything," Paul added. Lini thanks him before going to her car, she looks at the paper before putting it in her bag and going home.

The next morning, Lini wakes up, draws the curtains before stretching and then goes to take a shower. After a good shower, she goes into the kitchen and a smile appears on her face. Will, before leaving for work, made him breakfast, pancakes, eggs, bacon with a rose and a card on the tray "Not much but it's the least I can do." Lini's phone rang, wondering who it could be at this hour.

"Hello?"

But no one answers, she hears nothing, no one speaks, just a whisper.

"Hello? Can you hear me?" She repeated but still nothing, just a heavy breath, she hung up the phone. She looks out the window trying to call the number back and he picks up.

"Hello? you called me a few moments ago."

But the person on the phone doesn't answer just a loud gasp is heard. She hung up. Surely it must be some local kids calling people at random to scare people. She said to herself.

Will has come back from a break, he is going to work on a car when there are two officers who come to see his boss and show him their badges.

"What can I do for you sir?" Justin said wiping his hands in a rag looking at their badget.

"Hello, are you the manager?" One of the two police officers asked as he put the badge away and buckled it into his belt. "Of course sir." Said Justin wondering what they want. "We would like to ask you questions." Said the officer looking at him while the other officer looked around. "Of course please follow me sir." Justin said.

Will looked out of the corner of his eye at Justin and the two departing policemen wondering what was going on. He reached into his pocket for his medicine capsule, took two of them feeling his anxiety rising to the surface.

Everything will be alright.

Lini and Agnès spend the morning together, she took her daughter to a park where there were plenty of games for the children. She had fun. At noon, Lini took Agnès to a fast food restaurant before returning home, they ate at the fast food "in n'out", Agnès' favorite place. She had a burger, fries and a coke while Lini had a double cheese, fries and a coke, they got a milkshake for the ride home.

As soon as they got home, Agnès went to play in her room while Lini started doing the dishes from last night and this morning. She receives a call, she picks up.

"Yes?"

But since this morning no one answers except a heavy breath, Lini got stressed, she looked outside if no one is watching her, she hasn't received a call since this morning and this person is calling her at whenever she is home. She hung up, biting her nails in stress, looked briefly at her bag, wondering if she should call him or not.

The two policemen go towards Will who was going to resume his work after the lunch break, they question the boss of the garage and he recognizes the van but he explains that this van was stolen the day before the triple murder while one of his mechanics had left to wash it in a car wash. Justin explains that after fixing the van, he gave Will permission to wash it before the owners took it back the next day. He explains that Will has always been very careful with customers' cars. He also explains when Will came back without the van but he got beaten up before he stole the van from the car wash. So the police decided to interrogate this famous Will to ask him questions about it.

"Good morning sir." Said Will politely who is working on a car engine.

"Hello Mr. Rifte, can I ask you a few questions?" Said the policeman with a notepad in his hand as well as documents.

"Yes of course."

"Do you recognize this van?" The officer said before handing her a photo of the black van after it was pulled out of the lake. "Yeah" he said looking carefully at the picture.

"Your boss told us what happened during the flight, can you tell us more?" He asked looking at him while his other colleague stared at him without a word.

"Well... After fixing all the repairs on this van, I usually make the cars clean so I went to wash it but while I was washing it when two men attacked me by behind and took the van." He said honestly, remembering that hard memory.

"Did you see their faces?" he asked but Will replied in the negative. The officers thank Will for answering their questions, they drive off in their cars as Will watches them go with relief.
