Chapter 61: A deaf conversation

The weekend was hell for Lini, Mark kept provoking her but didn't speak to her directly, just saying "Rookie does this, Rookie does that...". The training they did in the ring was also hell, Mark giving her no rest and yelling at her when she wasn't going fast or making bad moves. It's the last two days of the tour and she can't fight him anymore, even today, he was still provocative.

Arriving in England, he passed without saying a word to Lini to pick up Agnes who was happy to spend time with him and Lona. Agnes is very close to her mother, wanting her to come but she didn't want to which made Mark even more angry and sad inside but decided not to show it.

In the evening, she arrived at the arena alone, without the children, without Mark again, without anyone. Lini entered her locker room to put on her wrestling outfit before doing her hair and make-up without forgetting to put the colored lenses in her eyes. Paul entered Lini's locker room to check if everything was okay, having sensed the tension between Mark and her. "How are you Lini?" He asked, she looked at Paul with tears in her eyes, then walked over to wrap her arms around his neck easily since that he was about the same height as her. Paul rubbed her back, frowning wondering what Taker had done. "You want to talk about it?" He asked wrapped his short arms around Lini's waist hearing her sniffle, tears running down thin black lines down her cheeks. "No, I just want a hug."

Mark and the girls arrived at the arena with stuffed animals, they were at the funfair all afternoon. Going on rides, winning stuffed animals, eating candy, having fun even if in Mark's head he would have liked to calmly explain himself to Lini over there while the kids were at the ride. The girls are in a hurry to show the stuffed animals they won at the funfair to Lini, Mark follows the children who have entered the locker room. "Did you see, my white teddy bear is beautiful!" Agnes shouts at her mum, Mark comes in, sees Lini sitting doing her makeup, the children are showing her the gifts.

"Look, Undy took something for you!" Said Agnes pointing to what Mark has in his hands, she looks at what Mark is holding and it's a beautiful stuffed animal which is a beautiful white cat wearing a pink collar and a bow tie on her head. "I told Undy you liked the cartoon with the cats" she confessed to her mum, Lini doesn't try to smile but tries not to look tense. Mark sits on the sofa between the girls , still with the stuffed animal in his hand.

"Kids...can I speak with Lini, alone?" He asked the girls getting up from the couch and going outside the locker room with their stuffed animals. Mark looks at Lini who is cross-legged on the couch, her arms crossed resting on her legs wondering if he's calmed down or he's playing a game. "Have you finally decided to have a conversation with me?" She asked tired of this shitty weekend she spent just for a bail paid. Mark tries very hard not to get angry, rubs his face gently then looks at her.

"You know my perspective on all of this and you know there's a possibility that your 'friend' is guilty and you naively believe all the bullshit he's said to you." He says calmly trying not to get angry or raise his voice but Lini doesn't help him, she doesn't care if she has to shout or raise her voice for him to understand HER point of view. "Because he's MY friend and I'm not naive! If he wanted to kill me, he wouldn't have left me HOME when MY house exploded!" she said, raising her voice. She gets up from the sofa to walk around the room trying not to get totally upset.

"So you want me to believe it's for nothing when there are two witnesses, the mysterious calls, the sketch of the man who was in the van stolen from the garage Where Will Works? No it's not suspicious. .. it's a BIG coincidence, it's nothing, it's a FUCKING COINCIDENCE!" He says starting to raise his voice having had enough of her naivety, he gets up with the stuffed cat in his hands walking towards Lini. "It's just that you don't know him like I know him..." She said looking at him nastily trying to defend her friend, Mark chuckled nervously. "You're just someone who doesn't step back to think!" He honestly said he had anymore strength to keep calm about it. "And you didn't even take the time to consult me if I was okay with you posting his bail! No! You acted selfishly!" He said almost yelling at her.

"You would have said no anyway! I chose to do what MY HEART wanted!" look at each other maliciously. "So what? Didn't you think how I might feel?? I lost two people that night! I waited two fucking long years to find out if we FINALLY find a suspect and you let him go because YOUR heart has decided so?!" He shouted, not caring that anyone else was there, he violently threw the stuffed cat against the wall. "YOU ARE A FUCKING SELFISH! I'M SUFFERING AS MUCH AS YOU!" He cried turning red, his fists clenching. Lini has tears in her eyes, so much that she can't stop them tearing themselves apart.

"I KNOW YOU'RE SUFFERING! I MAY BE REACTING LIKE A SELFISH BUT ME I NEVER LEAVE MY OWN DAUGHTER BY SIDE ! EVER!" She cried in turn, tears running down her cheeks. "For a selfish woman as you say, I revived the bond you had with YOUR daughter! I took care of the person you had left of your late wife! So for a selfish woman, it's Very selfish of me, right?!" She always said with a tone of irony and by lowering the tension between the two a little bit.

"Yeah I was selfish Friday but DON'T TREAT ME LIKE I AM ALL THE TIME!" She added looking Mark straight in the eyes, Austin huffed seeing no one trying to calm them down, he nodded. Austin walks towards Mark pulls his arm back to get him out of the locker room. Mark lets himself be taken away but before leaving he turns around enough to look at Lini with menacing and cold eyes. "The damage is done, you let him free..but I warn you...if the sergeant inform us that there is really evidence against him...don't hold me back...I will kill him before the police will have time to arrest him..." He said in a threatening voice before leaving..
