Chapter 59: Selfish

A few hours later, they land in France, Mark is very angry with Lini that he decided to change places on the plane, he was normally next to her with Lona on the plane but decided to change even if his daughter did not want to. On the bus, Lini and Agnes were at the start of the bus while Mark got into the back of the bus with some colleagues. Agnes and Lona are sad that they are not together, they don't understand why Mark doesn't want them to be together anymore.

Upon arrival at the hotel, Lini and Agnes arrived in their room, Agnes is sad, she puts down her bag and then sits on the bed. "Mom?" She said looking at her unpacking her suitcase, she looks at her daughter trying to hide her sadness. "Undy is mad at us?" She asked seeing the change in Mark's behavior, she smiled sadly then sat next to her daughter. "No, we just disagree on things." She said trying to reassure her daughter who is worried about this strange situation. "It's going to be okay, right?" She asked worriedly to her mother, Lini giving her a kiss on the forehead before looking into her eyes. "I hope so".

Mark is on the balcony, hands resting on the railing, head down, eyes closed calming down. How could she? how could she do that? he wondered. For two years he's been waiting for the police to finally find a suspect, the first suspect in two years and he's definitely guilty of all this. But Lini doesn't realize any of this, she doesn't want to step back and see the facts against him.

"... le suspect du meurtre du policier en civil il y a deux ans a été libéré sous caution après 24 heures de garde à vue...", Lona turned on the TV to see if there are cartoons, Mark snatched the remote control from his daughter's hands and looked for the cartoons when the French journalists showed Will's head. French moron! he thought.

"Dad, are you okay?" Lona wondered, sitting at the bottom of the bed, seeing her upset dad, he looks at her trying not to get angry at her daughter who hasn't done anything. "I'm fine, I.. I'm tired.." He said, lying down, his head on Lona's little knees, who puts her little hands in her daddy's hair, letting him rest.

After having something to eat, Lini gets ready for an autograph session, she showers and gets rid of the sweat, then changes. Her daughter fell tired in bed, she fell asleep watching TV while she was in the shower. She brought in someone from the wwf staff to babysit Agnes while she's at her autograph session. She was supposed to be accompanied by Mark but she knows he won't be at the door or even waiting for her to be in the same car as her.

But to her surprise, as soon as she opened the door, she saw a freshly washed Mark waiting for her. He has the look of the bad days, the cold and dark look, the same as the old Mark. The one she hated so much. "Let's go." He said coldly going to the elevator, she follows him without saying anything and enters the elevator.

It's a tense atmosphere, Mark doesn't even look at her, he has his head down in thought. He picks up his sunglasses and puts them in front of his eyes as the elevator doors open on his way to the front door. Fans chant their names when he sees them exit the hotel, they keep walking to the van that will take them to where the autograph session is taking place. "How could you be so selfish?" He finally asked Lini without looking at her, still looking through the tinted window of the car. Lini reacted selfishly by bailing Will out of custody because he's her friend and she doesn't believe him guilty.

And Mark? was she thinking of him while doing that? For Mark, all she thought was her and her feelings but not his feelings, he waited too long to finally find a suspect but selfishly as well as naively his own girlfriend bailed him out. Lini doesn't know how to tell him, she knows that she has broken Mark in two, because he is suffering as much as she is suffering from this case which has been going on for two years. But how to prove to him that Will has nothing behind all this?

Meanwhile, in Texas...

Early in the morning, the runners of an animal association will run a course that crosses a forest with different obstacles for dogs, accompanied by their dog to do this race. All breeds of dogs, all sizes are at the starting point alongside their master. As soon as the start was launched, all the runners run with their dogs who seem to like to run especially the big dogs. For about twenty minutes one of the runners has been taking a break with his German Shepherd and his wife who has her little 6-month-old Labrador. The German Shepherd is playing with something that is under the ground and branches. "Hey boy what are you playing? We'll be racing back there soon." Says the runner to his dog and the dog comes back when his master snaps his fingers but the man sees that his dog comes back with a big bag in his mouth. "Gimme that boy." Ordered the man and his dog put the bag at his master's feet while he crouched down and opened it. "We should turn this over to the police." Said his girlfriend seeing with amazement the contents of this abandoned bag.
