Chapter 47: A tense silence

Taker comes out of the restrooms and the bar going towards the parking lot. Leaving the bar, he was stopped by fans that they had just arrived at the bar wanting an autograph. He spent a good evening with Lini and this game of seduction excited him a little, and to say that he was a few centimeters from her lips but did nothing. His thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of crying in front of him, Taker's eyes turning cold and murderous at what he saw right in front of him.

Lini struggles but the man doesn't want to let her go, the man doesn't hear that there are footsteps coming towards them. Lini sees a dangerous Taker arrive, he grabs him by the throat and throws him against another car. He walks towards the man who coughed lying on the ground, his fists clenched ready to strike. "damn man! wait your turn!" The drunk man said to Taker, Taker lifting him up by the jacket, looking him in the eyes. "Touch that girl again, I'll gouge out your eyes to make olives for my cocktail, Alright!?" He said dangerously, the guy looked into the eyes of the big guy who seemed to be serious, he nodded and Taker threw him on the ground before turning to go towards Lini.

Taker didn't see but the guy pulls a knife out of his boot before trying to stick it in Taker's back but Taker turns around and punches him hard in the teeth. Lini walked over to Taker, reaching out her trembling arm to put her arm around Taker's. "Can we..can we go?" She said bagging and forcing Taker to back up to get in the car.

The road back to the hotel was silent, Taker had to calm down before going to take Lona back from Paul, he blames himself for not telling Lini to wait for him inside, it's because of him that she got attacked by a drunk cunt. He parked the car in the underground car park of the hotel before turning off the engine, he looks at Lini who slept all along the road. He rested his forehead on the steering wheel, closing his eyes trying to regain his composure. He could have even waited until he got back to the hotel to go to the bathroom, what a jerk he was to have told him to wait for him at the car. The evening was screwed up and he blames himself a lot.

After regaining his composure, he woke up Lini before returning to the hotel to pick up Lona. They remain silent in the elevator without looking at each other but Lini could see that Taker is still upset. They arrive at Paul's bedroom door, Taker was about to knock on the door when Lini takes her arm, Taker frowns looking at her. "Taker...I...I wanted to say thank you for this evening, it touched me." She said sincerely smiling at him, she stroked his arm trying to have a smile but Taker had no reaction, he knocked on the door then entered.

He goes to tell Lona that we have to go but he sees her sleeping on the bed with Agnes, he ignores Paul that he was going to ask her if it was. He carries Lona in his arms before going to his room.

Paul looks at Lini who rubs her arm as if embarrassed, she gently takes Agnes in her arms without waking her. "Lini, everything is alright?" Paul asked, worried that something had happened to Taker's behavior. Lini smiled at Paul trying to hide his sadness, not wanting to talk about it. "Yes that's fine, thank you for babysitting Agnes, Paul. Good night." She said before leaving the room.

The next morning they took an early flight back to Houston, Taker remained quiet having not slept too much, still looking in a bad mood, not saying a word, just resting on his sleeping daughter's head who was in his arms when they sat in the airport lobby waiting for their plane. Lini remained silent also taking care of her daughter, she didn't glance at Taker or say a word to him trying to talk to him. Paul feels a strong tension but does not understand why and does not know anything about what happened at their evening yesterday.

When they arrived at the Houston airport, they walk over to Taker's car before setting off for the drive home. There too, they were very quiet, not even looking at each other except when Taker told Lini to go to the car, that he take care of putting the suitcases in the car.

He parked the car in front of his house when they arrived, he lets Agnes and Lini get out and take their suitcases but Lini notices that Taker isn't getting off. "Don't get out of there Lona.." He ordered his daughter, looking at her in the interior mirror. "Paul, give Lini the keys and get back in the car." He ordered Paul next while staring ahead, hands on the steering wheel. Paul looks at Taker who looks in a bad mood, not wanting to ask him questions that could annoy him, he gives the keys to Lini before getting back in the car. "Where are you going Taker?" Lini asked leaning on Paul's door, Taker still staring at her with no emotion crossing his face. "I'll be back, close the front door behind you." He said before backing up and leaving.

Lona does not understand where they are going, she hugs her comforter in her arms wondering where they are going. Dad looks pissed, did I do something? she wondered. Paul tries to find out where they're going but Taker doesn't say anything, still in his thoughts. He parked the car in a parking lot where there is a flower shop, he put the handbrake and then opened the door. "Stay here." He ordered before slamming the car door, going inside the store.

"Uncle Paul, Dad is mad at me? Did I do something?" She asked on the verge of tears not liking to see her dad in such behavior. She knows when her daddy is silent as that's a sign he's upset about something. Paul turns his head enough to look at Lona, gives her a reassuring smile. "No sweetie, your daddy was already pissed off last night. Don't worry." Reassured her. Paul frowned when he saw Taker coming back to the car with two white roses, he got into the car, gave the flowers to Paul before starting the car.

"Dad, where are we going?" Lona asked, finding the courage to ask her. Taker closes his eyes then inhales deeply before opening his eyes. "We're going to see Mom and Calvin."
