Troy woke up the next morning to noise.
It seemed people were running around trying to sort something out.
Troy sat up and felt very foreign in his body. The last thing he remembered was drinking. Drinking....and Margot.
A splitting headache hit Troy at once and he winced. Troy clutched his head and his hands and bared his teeth. Once the pain had subsided, Troy slid out of bed and found himself in full clothing. He was confused. He was certain he had washed and changed into just boxers.
Troy convinced himself that he must have imagined it all in his drunken stupor. Before Troy could turn to make his way to his bathroom, his door flung open and John ran in with panic all over his face.
"Your...Your Highness...Your Father...The King...He-" John stuttered and hesitated with his words.
John had a foreboding feeling and urged John to finish his statement.
"John...OUT WITH IT!" Troy spat.
"The King is dead...he passed away in his sleep" John finally said.
Troy could hear ringing in his ears. Sounds around him became muffled and he tried processing what he had just heard. A heavy feeling built in his chest and something in mind started to doubt that what John had said was true. A part of his heart wished it was not true and his eyes stung with tears. Troy's heart started to race as he pushed John to the side as he made his way to his father's chambers.
"Your highness...your barefoot..." John said in an effort to get Troy to put his slippers on
Troy ran. He ran through the hallways and past attendants who were scrambling to get necessary things in order. Troy pushed and he screamed at people as he ran. His only goal at this time was to get to the King's chambers.
Troy stood heavily panting as he stared at the huge wooden doors. Troy was scared of what he would find behind the doors. Troy calmed his breathing and tried to walk towards the doors but the two guards stationed at the door stepped in front of him, stopping him from going in.
Troy's brows scrunched into a frown.
"GET OUT OF MY WAY" he boomed, his voice echoing through the quiet corridors
"I'm sorry my King but we cannot let you in until necessary checks have been carried out." One of the guards said.
"King??? King??? I AM NOT YOUR KING!!! MY FATHER IS KING AND I REQUEST PRESENCE WITH HIM NOW!!!" Troy screamed as he scrambled to get through the guards.
The guards both held him both Troy fought them off. He punched one of the guards and kicked the other in the stomach. Reaching for the doors, he turned the knob and pushed the door open.
As he opened the door, he came face to face with the imperial physician.
Troy was breathing heavily and he looked rugged as opposed to the physician who looked calm and collected.
"Prince, I advise you collect yourself." The older man said to Troy in a low voice devoid of any emotion.
"I- Is he-....tell me my father is just sleeping." Troy's voice broke as he spoke.
The physician just looked at Troy.
Troy grabbed the shoulders of the physician.
"PLEASE TELL ME HE IS ALRIGHT AND JUST ASLEEP!!" Troy said louder as tears threatened to spill from his eyes.
"The former King is dead Your Majesty" The Physician said calmly.
"DONT CALL ME THAT" Troy screamed as he let go of the physician.
