Margot noticed that Troy had been a bit distant with her over the past few weeks. The man would act as normal with the boys but once the boys fell asleep he would put up a distant front.

Many times, Troy had quietly slipped out the house without sending as much as regards to Margot. He would leave the boys tucked in bed and Grayson had always been the one to see him out. She would ask Grayson if Troy had said anything before he left but the older man would just shake his head. The one time she had managed to see him as he was leaving, he simply gave her a curt nod and then left the house.

Margot, who had repeatedly prayed that the man would stay away from her and her sons found herself wondering why she cared so much that the man was distant. She did in fact say all she wanted was for him to grow closer to the boys. That was exactly what he was doing so why was she so bothered about his distant front.

Margot was currently sat opposite Knox and as she sipped her ice coffee, the man slowly realised he had been speaking to himself all along.

"OI!!! MARGOT!!" Knox shouted to get Margot's attention.

Margot jumped and then looked around her in panic.

"Are you even listening to me you blockhead?" Knox asked.

Margot gave the man a death stare.

"Maybe...this blockhead cannot seem to understand a word that you say." she whisper-shouted before turning her attention back to her coffee.

"I've decided to confess my crush...." Knox blurted out and Margot choked on her coffee. Droplets of the drink spilled all over her side of the table and Knox frowned as he picked up some tissues to wipe after her.

Margot coughed several times to correct the error the pipes in in her throat had decided to make due to her surprise.

"Re-reallly?" She coughed out.

Knox rolled his eyes.

"Really...it'll be at your house on Friday so get ready for me" Knox told her flatly.

Margot sipped her drink. The man probably wanted her to prep him for the confession. He probably also wanted for her to be present as moral support as he texted or called whoever it was. She nodded at the plan she had concocted herself.

Knox frowned at Margot's reaction.

'This woman is really slow' Knox thought to himself.

Margot sat playing with the twin boys when she heard the doorbell ring.

The woman opened the door to Troy. The man wore shorts and loafers with a polo shirt. His hair was swept back and he looked younger than he actually was. Margot admired the man for a few seconds before regaining herself and letting the man into the house with a "Hello".

Margot followed behind the man into the living room.

Troy turned to face her.

The man avoided her eyes.

"I'm hoping to take the boys swimming today" Troy told Margot, his gaze on a picture that sat on one of the side tables. It was a picture of the boys on their first day of school.

Margot noticed the man kept his tone formal and his eyes away from her.

"I see...am I- allowed to come?" Margot asked. From the man's previous statement and tone, one could easily tell that he was not really inviting her to the party.

"Ah...that's a given. I don't think I am allowed to take them out without proper supervision" Troy replied.

Margot took his reply as he did not really want her to come but she HAD to come because of rules SHE had set.

Margot's chest hurt.

She said nothing more and retired to the kitchen to get some lunchboxes ready for the boys.

Margot whose mind was on why Troy had been acting strange did not notice when the upper layer of ceramic dishes leaned dangerously to the edge of the shelf, the entire set threatening to fall on her at any second. She had opted to slip out one of the plates from the middle, causing the upper stack to lean forward at a dangerous angle.

Troy who had glanced at the woman noticed the situation. The man frowned. Before he could stop himself, Troy had shot out of his seat, leaping to do whatever he could do ensure Margot did not suffer any casualties from the plates.

Soon the sound of glass colliding with the hard floor and shattering into pieces echoed through the house.

Margot who had curled into her self when she realised her situation suddenly felt the warmth of another body behind her. She was pressed against a hard body and a large arm was snaked around her waist. An arm identical to the one around her waist was held up above her, shielding her from the items that came crashing down.  Looking up and behind her, she came face to face with Troy who had blood flowing down from a corner of his forehead.

Margot gasped. Troy held onto Margot tighter.

"Are you okay?" A raspy voice asked as the man's breath fanned her ears.

Margot's face warmed.

"I-" Margot started to say but was interrupted when Troy's head fell on her shoulders.

"Don't scare me like that...please. I can't....not again...." the man plead in a low voice.

Troy seemed to get a hold of himself the next second as he heard footsteps thudding down from the second floor. He slowly let go of her and then turned to walk away.

"You're bleeding!!" Margot yelled at the man as she ran after him, grabbing onto his wrist to get his attention.

Troy slowly turned to face Margot. The man who's face had now gone pale flashed a weak smile at her. He carefully peeled her hands off his wrist and patted them twice.

"It's fine. We probably can't go out today. We can't let the boys see me like this. I'll come by tomorrow." Troy said before giving Margot a curt nod and then turning to leave.

The door closed with a soft click and Margot still did not know what to think. The hands that touched the man warmed with various sensations but her mind was now raging with questions she had no answers to.

"Get me a doctor" Troy instructed John as he slumped into his seat.

Beads of sweat now gathered on his forehead and his lips were becoming dry. His face was pale and his hands clammy. His skin felt feverish and he tried to steady his breathing.

John exited the room to quickly get a doctors when he assessed Troy and concluded that the man would be okay on his own.

"Shit!" Troy cursed remembering how soft Margot felt against his own hard body. The woman was taken. He had to drill that into his skull. But even with this piece of knowledge Troy craved the woman. Not just her touch but he craved for a relationship with her. He wanted her to be comfortable with him and for her to smile for and because of him. But he had already lost all that. Troy now berated himself for touching the woman. He could have just shielded her from the plates. He did not need to hold her so close. He should not have, hut he did. He could not, but he wanted to.

Troy threw his head back as a growing migraine now came as an addition to his already feverish body.
