A rose for a withered rose...

Margot had stopped counting how many times she had received single roses with a note attached to them. She knew who the sender was but she could not be bothered. As she always did, she took today's white rose and chucked it in the paper bin along with its accompanying note.

Troy watched from outside as Margot added another rose to the pile that filled the bin corner. He felt a pang in his chest and bowed his head before turning to leave the office building.

Margot and Knox sat eating lunch when Margot felt like she was being watched. She looked out from the glass wall of the restaurant and saw nothing suspicious. She shrugged as he returned to eating lunch. Knox had been making her laugh the entire time and she had almost choked on her food three time now. Knox currently handed her his drink as she coughed, trying to sort out the error in her throat. She sipped from the man's straw and Troy clenched his fists as he watched the pair.

He adjusted his scarf around his nose and mouth area as the biting cold wind blew around him. John could not tell if Troy's anger contributed to the chills but he shivered and then suggested to Troy that they return. A two week trip had now turned to a month's trip. Troy had work piling back in Softlia, but the man refused to return until he had sorted out his issues with Margot. John had no confidence that Troy would be able to get back with the young woman after witnessing the deterioration of their relationship but he supported Troy however.

Troy turned to walk away as Margot turned to stare out the large glass window. Margot thought she spotted a familiar back but the body slipped into a car before she was able to confirm.

She returned to eating and chatting with Knox. When her lunch was over she returned to her office and spotted another rose. This time, the note was different.

'A rose for a rose I hope to grow old with - Troy'

Margot laughed bitterly.

"The gardener sends a rose to the rose he let wither. A rose for a withered rose." she muttered to herself, pain evident in her voice as she crushed the petals of the flower in her hand.

Troy sent another rose with a note. '

'I hope to be able to speak with you. I hope to be able to clear  misunderstandings between us - Troy'

Margot scoffed. 'Misunderstandings?' She thoughts. Misunderstandings or events that occurred?

Margot chucked the note. She slipped out her phone and dialed the all too familiar number she hated herself for remembering.

"Meet me at Oceania restaurant up Hent street at 3pm today" Margot said into the phone, ending the call before giving the recipient any chance to speak.

Margot took a deep breath. She decided to end things formally with Troy. She would tell the man that he had no place in her life anymore. They had ended their marriage and he had cut her off even after knowing she was pregnant.

Margot grabbed her bag and put in the essentials she needed before putting on her coat and heading out of the office. Whilst she rode the lift to the ground floor, she mentally prepared to face the man who was the source of her nightmares. The man who had caused her so much pain she once wished to die. Margot steeled herself. She would not cry and she would not falter. She would not break down or have a panic attack. She would hear what he had to say but then tell him she did not want to rekindle any form of friendship or marital relationship with the man.

Margot stepped into the restaurant and spotted the man before she even saw his face. His blonde curls stood out and his sharp features could not be missed. His large build contributed to his uniqueness and his aura screamed 'look at me!'.  She took one more deep breath before walking towards the man.

A/N:

I wonder what happens to our main characters now. Do they get back together?...Do they cordially separate?

The next chapter might be a bit intense and the following chapter might make it seem like Troy's playing Margot but it seems he genuinely hopes to make things right. Will apologies and genuine intentions be enough for Margot who had to go through degrading and hurtful experiences? How does Troy intend to reintegrate into the lives of boys who never even knew he existed? How does he explain his 5-year absence? How does Troy want to upstage Knox's position in the boys' lives?

And what is this illness Troy keeps talking about? How is it relevant to Margot's experiences?

Knox is not actively pursuing Margot...why? ¬_¬
