Grayson stormed out of the house, slamming the front door in the process. His brother all turned towards the direction of the door but then shrugged and then returned to raging over video games.
Grayson made his way to the edge of the dock which led into the lake. He sat down and removed his shoes before placing his legs into the water.
Grayson held his head in his hands as she bent over. He did not know if he had made he right decision in running from Dalles but as soon as she suggested being just friends, his anger blazed and he ran before it could burn her. Grayson had wanted to be gentle with Dalles but now he had blown up in front of her.
Grayson raised his head and then stared at the water. More than his guilty conscience, Grayson worried about what had hurt Dalles so much that she could not speak about. Grayson could easily find out by telling his men to give a detailed report on Dalles but he wanted to grow his relationship with her from scratch. He wanted her to feel comfortable telling him things even if that meant him waiting years for her to open up. Grayson was so old now but he felt like a teenager having had to sit by a lake to clear his thoughts. He felt like he had just fought with his girlfriend from school and came sulking by the lake.
Grayson chuckled to himself. He decided to be patient with Margot. He would assure her thy were not 'friends' but two people working towards a relationship. He would give her the security and assurance. He would be patient. People went through things they could never fully recover from. He best understood that. Grayson was about to stand when he heard patters of feet behing him. He sharply turned around to see who it was. Dalles stood behind him in a bath robe and bare feet. Her hair was packed into a messy bun and her eyes were swollen with tear marks runnign down her face. Grayson frowned and hurriedly stood to his feet.
With large strides, he hurried to meet her on the dock.
Grayson reached Dalles and cupped her face in his hands.
"Agapi mou, why do you cry for an old bastard like me??" He whispered as he used his thumbs to wipe at Dalles eyes. This seemed to trigger a fresh round of tears for Dalles who sniffled as her tears ran down her face.
Grayson rubbed her tears away and consoled her, repeatedly asking her not to cry. When Dalles quieted down a bit, Grayson lifted her bridal style and took her to one of the sofas which sat in the shed by the lake.
"Stop crying princess...hmmm?" Grayson whispered in Dalles ears
Dalles looked up at him and wiped at her eyes.
Grayson had sat on the sofa, placing Dalles on his laps and using his arms to secure her to him.
Dalles hiccupped as she opened her mouth to talk and Grayson chuckled.
Dalles who was already red from her crying turned a deeper shade of red.
"Don't stress about it Princess." Grayson told her with a laugh.
Dalles and Grayson sat in comfortable silence as Dalles calmed down.
"I had a boyfriend once" Dalles started to say suddenly. At her words, Grayson knew he might not like how the evening would end.
"We were 15 when we became friends. We started dating at 16 after he confessed. Mid term, he had to go to the US with his family and he told me he couldn't bear to break up with me so we should try long distance...Shortly after...-" Dalles had started to breathe heavily and her words started to leave her.
Grayson grabbed her hand gently.
"Dalles...you don't have to do this if you're too stressed." Grayson told her calmly.
