"Kaamini.. tum taiyyar nahi huyi.. Aaj office nahi jana kya?", Asked her mother.
"Nahi..", Kaamini answered picking up the breakfast from the kitchen and walking towards the couch in front of the television. She turned on the TV and curled up on the sofa comfortably. Her mother turned off the gas stove and followed her.
"Tabiyyat toh thik hai na tumhara?", Her mother asked touching her forehead.
"Maaaaa.. I am fine..",Kaamini said pushing her mother's hand away from her forehead.
"Toh, office kyu nahi jaa rahi?", Asked her mother.
"Ab mera ghar pe rehna bhi problem hai kya?", Kaamini asked totally annoyed.
"Arey, aise kya baat kar rahi hai?", Her mom asked.
"Toh kya karu? Ek hi sawaal baar baar kar rahi ho. Shanti se nashta tak khaane nahi de rahi.", Kaamini spoke in irritation. Her mother stared at her silently.
"Arey, Kaamini office nahi jaa rahi? Tabiyyat toh thik hai?", Asked her brother, Keval, while tying a knot of his tie.
"Argghh.. nahi jaa rahi. Ab se nahi jaaungi. Choddh diya maine naukri.", Kaamini yelled in frustration.
"Kya? Tumne naukri se resign kar diya?", Asked her mother and brother in shock.
"Guys naukri choddhi hai, koi daaka nahi dala jo aise expression de rahe ho..", Kaamini rolled her eyes and spoke.
"But why?", Asked her father.
"Meri marzi.. main..", Kaamini was interrupted by another someone clearing the throat.
She turned to find Sidharth who was standing at the door.
"S.. S.. Sidharth?", Kaamini choked on her food and starts coughing.
"Kaamini.. paani lao koi jaldi se..", Sidharth screams running towards her. Everyone looks stunned at his overly concerned expressions.
Kaamini's mother gets water for her and Sidharth makes her drink.
"Ab kaisa feel kar rahi ho Kaamini?", Asked Sidharth with concern written over his face.
"Huh? I..I..I am f..f..f..fine.", Kaamini stammered while sweating profusely.
"Arey Kaamini, why are you palpitating so much? Chalo tumhe main doctor ke pass leke chalta hoon. Tumhaare liye toh aaya hoon main yaha..", said Sidharth wiping her sweat beads from her forehead with his handkerchief.
"Arey, Sidharth itni choti si cheez ke liye doctor ke pass kaun jata hai?", Chuckled Keval.
"Choti cheez nahi hai jijaji.. Bahut badi cheez hai, jiska ilaaj karna zaruri hai..", said Sidharth looking at Keval.
"Aaa.. Bhai.. aapko office nahi jana? Aur Maa ke liye kuch chai leke aao..", Interrupts Kaamini
"Ek minute Kaamini. Sidharth, aisa kya hua hai Kaamini ko?", Asked Keval.
"Blood Cancer..", said Sidharth.
"What?", Her family members froze in shock while Kaamini facepalmed.
"Kya ganda mazaak kar rahe ho Sidharth? She is perfectly fine.", Said Keval.
"Nahi jijaji.. Kaamini batao unhe ki tum jald hi marne wali ho..", said Sidharth.
"What? What rubbish!! Tumhe koi galat fehmi huyi hai.. Mujhe kuch nahi hua hai, main koi matne wali nahi hoon..", said Kaamini.
"Sidharth, yeh bahut baddha mazaak hua.. I didn't expect this from you.", Yelled Nidhi at her brother.
