Staring at the white ceiling, my focus zones right in on the light that's half blinding me. "Are they okay?" My voice sounds horse and my head is still pounding.

"We're going to check on them right now, Stevie." My doctor looks really worried, which isn't all that reassuring.

I space out once again as nurses and my doctor all circle around the room.

I'm sad... I'm so sad. It feels like the whole world just fell right from the sky and crushed me in the midst of it all.

My babies can't be okay, there's no way.

"We have to make sure you're doing alright, too." One of the nurses voices pulls me back in.

Shaking my head lazily, I hold up a hand. "Don't worry about me." I whisper. "Save my kids..."

I pace the lobby until Adam shows up, carrying her purse, a few blankets and he even found the hospital bag that she literally just packed the other night.

"How is she?" He asks, taking a seat on the couch in the private waiting room.

After she hadn't picked up the phone, we decided to take a quick trip over to her house to make sure she was okay... and she wasn't.

Adam found her in the foyer, sitting in the accent chair, nearly unconscious. I have no idea what happened, but I knew it was an emergency.

"I don't know," I shrug, grabbing her purse off the couch.

I plop down next to him, knee's bopping up and down as I start to dig through all of her stuff.

There's about a million receipts, some gum wrappers, a couple crumpled up dollar bills, loose change, and even a half eaten candy bar.

"She has to have his number in here somewhere." I recall Bridget telling me something about how his number was in her wallet, but I can't find it.

So, instead of calling Lindsey, I call the only other person who can truly help in a situation like this- Lori. I call her house first and when no one picks up, I call her pager. Luckily, she calls right back and the moment I hear her ask me if I'm alright- I start crying.

Of course, she gets all worked up when I tell her what I walked in on, and when I hear her tell uncle Chris to turn around and come back- I can't help but feel a sense of relief. If my mother needs anything right now, she needs her sister-in-law.

Lori also tells me that I need to call the airport, because Lindsey was headed out to Chicago this evening, which is almost scary. He could be thirty thousand feet above us right now- no idea what's happening on the ground.

I let out a sigh of relief the moment my plane is finally called to board. It seems like we've all been waiting around forever, and by this time, I'm just ready to get this whole thing over with.

"Here," I hand the lady my boarding pass, waiting for her to scan it and then I slip down the small hallway that connects the plane to the airport.
