Chapter 21

Whenever I would reminisced the moment we had on our lunch at the buffet table in school, I always find myself smiling.

Flashback

I was busy picking up a food I wanted to eat. I was currently looking at the foods and was about to get a slice of squid, a calamari, when a hand patted my hand.

I looked up and saw Selene's frowned face. "You have an allergy on that. Why would you eat that?" panininghal niya sa akin bago tumingin sa mga pagkain at kumuha roon. I thought she picked a food for her, but it turns out I'm wrong. She picked a food... for me.

"'Yan ang kainin mo. That's your favorite..."

Napakislap ang mga mata ko sa kasalukuyang ginagawa niya. How much I appreciated her actions just now. I loved how she scolded me on eating the foods I had an allergy. Wala akong allergy sa squid, pero si Maureen, meron. I also appreciated how she remembered Maureen's favorite food.

Akala ko ay wala siyang pakialam sa mama niya, it turns out, she had. Maureen just didn't see it.

I was smiling widely when she hissed in my side. "What's with that smile? Don't get me wrong. I was just stopping you on eating that foods because I know dad would scold me when he would know I let you eat that food!"

Napanguso ako sa sinabi niya.

"Bakit kasi ang tanga-tanga mo!"

End of flashback

Mas napapanguso ako nang maalala ang huling sinabi niya. Grabe ang batang 'to! Ang sakit talagang magsalita!

"Attention! For the first batch, please get inside the skating rink for the gears."

We're here in the mall. The event will be continued here, as what it was mentioned in the invitation card.

Nang marinig ang sinabi ng emcee ay kaagad na tumayo ang mga first batch. Dahil marami kami ay hinati kami sa tatlong grupo... and we're the third batch.

The first and the second batch has done on skating in the skating rink. It was a game where partners should unite and move as a team. They shouldn't let themselves stumbled nor fall. The team that will fall, even just one of them had fallen, the team will be eliminated.

"Now, the last batch! Please proceed in the skating rink."

Akmang aayain ko na si Selene nang mauna siyang tumayo at naglakad papunta sa loob. Bumuntong-hininga lang ako at pumasok narin sa loob. I wore my gears and when done, I looked around to find Selene.

"Are you done, tita?"

Napalingon ako at nakita si Harrison. "Oo---"

I was shocked when he suddenly kneeled down and look at my ice skates. Inayos niya 'yon bago tumayo.

"I wanted to help you but I think I should let Selene help you." He smiled at me. "Wait here, tita. I'll just find Selene..."

He skated around the rink, and upon seeing him skating, I was just like... Wow! Ang galing niyang mag-skate! Naiingit tuloy ako. Parang wala lang sa kanya ang pagsi-skating.

Napapayuko ako sa ice skates ko at napapangusong tiningnan 'yon. Sana makiayon ka sa 'kin ngayon, ha?

"Bakit nakaupo ka pa?"

Napapatingala ako at bahagyang kumislap ang mga mata ko nang makita si Selene sa harap ko.

"Tayo na. Magsisimula na ang game."

Napanguso ako sa sinabi niya. Hindi ako marunong.

I wanted to say it to her earlier, when the emcee asked us all if who among us didn't know how to skate, kasi puwede namang tumanggi. Puwede namang huwag kaming sumali, pero nang makita ko kung paano sumaya ang mga mata niya nang marinig ang salitang skating ay natatahimik ako. Hinayaan ko siyang sumali kahit hindi ko alam kung paano magskating.
