When Bucky came home he found Steve cleaning up broken glass and noticed a few drops of blood, "Steve what happened? Where's Rain? Is she ok?"
Steve sighed, "Rain's up in my bed. Carter messed with our girl's head... I came home and found..."
He blinked back tears, "I don't think she even knew what she was doing because once I got her into the kitchen and cleaned the cut on her palm she began to come around."
Bucky wanted to punch something. [Actually a very specific someone, but he'd settle for a punching bag later.]
Bucky ran a hand through his hair, "Steve... I... Fuck! I want to wring that bitch's neck!"
Steve dumped the broken glass into the trash, "I gave Laura instructions that we are not meeting with anyone outside of the company and if she actually has the balls to show up in person she's to be thrown out."
Suddenly Rain's soft voice cut through, "You don't have to do that. I mean... If you really-"
Bucky cut her off with a tight hug, "Angel you don't even know half the trouble she caused."
He looked at her bandaged hand, "Fuck doll... Why...?"
Rain pulled her hand a way and hid it in her sleeve, "I... I don't know. I was hurt and mad. I threw a glass and realized that I wasn't anything more than a pawn to my uncle and Carter she looks like everything a guy would want and... I'm just me... The next thing I knew Steve was holding my hand stopping me from cutting my wrist."
Steve swiped at his eyes and walked over to them. Bucky held Rain close and pulled Steve into the hug. The three just stood in silence for a long time.
Steve kissed Rain's head, "I'm going to order us in some food."
Rain grabbed his hand, "Thank you... I am sorry you-"
Steve kissed her, "Just promise you won't do that again. I love you too much to lose you." He kissed her lightly and walked away to order dinner.
Bucky turned her face to meet his after Steve left, "Rain... I love you and the thought of losing you..."
Rain kissed him softly, "I'm sorry. It had been a long time since I let myself... I'm sorry... I love you and Steve so much... I wouldn't... I'm sorry..."
Bucky held her, "Sssh it's ok we got you baby girl. We ain't letting go. I swear."
Rain looked up and smiled, "I love you James Barnes. Thank you."
