Wilson Fisk sat in his office waiting for news. He'd sent some low level goons to grab his niece. He'd give them even odds.
Rain seemed meek and docile on the outside, but she fought like a hell cat.
He mused remembering the DCFS case worker bringing her into the office. She had a black eye from a scuffle; apparently an older child tried to take the stuff bear she treasured. It made him smile because he'd bought the bear the day she was born.
"Rain... This is your uncle Wilson. Do you remember him?" The case worker asked introducing him. Rain was 8 and he hadn't seen her or her parents in years as her father's military career took them over seas.
Rain's tiny voice answered, "Momma said we were going to see her brother before the crash."
Fisk smiled, "That's me."
Rain smiled back.
Drawn back to the present by a knocking he called, "Enter!"
A dark skinned woman dressed in black leather came in, "Ah! Roxie did they retrieve my niece?"
The woman smiled and opened up her phone to play a video, "Boss you did not say your girl was a fighter."
Fisk smiled seeing Rain wipe the place with them, but then frowned, "I told them not to mark her up."
Roxie sat in a chair opposite of him, "Well that brings up the good news bad news part of this."
Fisk looked confused, "What do you mean?"
Roxie leaned forward with mischief twinkling in her eyes, "Meeting at the library was none other than Steve "Captain America" Rogers and the heads of his family's businesses."
Fisk scrolled over and saw photos of his niece collapsed in the arms of one of New York's most powerful crime bosses.
Fisk shook his head and laughed, "Well ain't this something."

Rain changed into the shirt Steve brought her. It barely covered her to mid thigh and was a little snug in the chest and tummy, but was roomy in the shoulders.
She looked at herself in the mirror. The left side of her face was bruised with her eye blacked pretty good. Her lip was swollen and split down center; thankfully it didn't need stitches there.
Rain looked at her hands; both were swollen and a dark purple blue. She lifted the shirt to see the hand prints. Her eyes looked up and caught a glimpse of something in the mirror.
When she turned she saw her uncle's face. She screamed and sat up in bed.
Steve rushed in; hair messy from sleep and in only boxers, "Rain? What is it?" He turned on the light and made his way to the bed.
Rain had tears in her eyes, "Sorry... I had a nightmare."
Steve climbed into the bed and gathered her in his arms. Rain let her guard down and just cried.
Steve comforted her holding her until she had cried herself to sleep.
He was tempted to stay with her, but he carefully slipped away; as he turned to tuck her in he noticed on her upper thigh a beautifully inked rose and dagger tattoo with the Latin phrase: ubi vita est spes est [where there is life there is hope]
Steve swallowed the urge to kiss the spot. He tucked her in and headed to his room. He need to check and see if Bucky and gotten anything from the men who tried to grab her.
